I did too, and I drank a boatload of it. Maybe next year's will be unfiltered. I remembering seeing pictures on the web of how filtering Waldo's broke their system.

I'm very happy with this year's BY. I've gone and stood in line at Tree House in the past and while I'm not comparing them directly (remembering beer tasted months ago isn't strong enough to make such a comparison) I'd say BY gave me a comparable level of drinking pleasure, available at a 40% per ounce discount and without driving an hour each way and waiting around.

anybody on the west coast get these super hazy ones? seems like most reports of the cloudy ones are coming from east coasters...maybe those came out of the chicago brewery?

Who else is not seeing this locally? NM is a ghost town.

If I'm lucky, I can get 11 day old Sucks. So thats may be where I look at this one too.

First off the hype is real on this beer, it really is! Second of all theory is that the bottles coming out of Chicago are much more Hazier than the bottles coming out of Cali. My particular bottle was extremely cloudy, hazy and very juicy!

Yea the sixer I got here in CA is not hazy at all and I've seen plenty of hazy photos and also reports of the hazy ones tasting much more juicy where as the sixer I got here in CA is much more assertive citrus and dank fresh marijuana.

Bottle out of Cali today, keg last Thursday - just days old, lovely. For unfiltered I thought it would be cloudier, but that oniony taste is right on target, dank, citrus represented well. Thanks Lagu!

Obviously it's a great tasting beer but I held it up to the light and still couldn't see my fingers thru the glass. How much more haze makes it hazy?

Distribution seems to be a mess. I live in Redondo Beach, CA, and normally have easy access to all their beers. So far, nothing at Total Wine, Whole Foods, or my local bottle shops. All of these locations received it quickly in past years.

Their website seems to show tap availability at a local obscure restaurant...but not one of the normal local brewpubs that tends to carry/specialize in this type of release.

Bizarre. I know this sounds like a SoCal first world problem, but I'm extremely disappointed.

Just a heads up, I would recommend checking Total Wine's website or calling around. I was experiencing the same issue here in Florida. Only seeing it available in bars, restaurants and nothing at Total Wine, WF or the likes. I checked Total Wine's website yesterday and saw they had 10 cases, so I stopped in and grabbed 3 sixers. The Laugnitias beer finder/borning page still doesn't reflect availability at Total Wine. There must be a serious lag or it's just not accurate.

Maybe the sun is brighter here in Arizona? I think I had a rather narrow tall glass, but I could still see blurry fingers. Perhaps I imagined it would have "floaty bits" in it because it was un-filtered but I could not see any so it was my expectations of what hazy / cloudy meant in a beer.

This year's batch is amazing. Such a clean, crisp, fresh, drinkable beer. Can't wait to crack another tonight!

If it doesn't look like snot it a glass, it ain't hazy or turbid....

Personally, I prefer more of a chest flem to snot, but now I'm just knit picking.

It is interesting to see the West Coast vs East Coast difference with this beer. I reviewed this beer and a buddy of mine did too on YouTube and we both had super hazy juice bombs, but the reviews from the West Coast look much more clear and don't sound juicy at all. Weird.

I'm in Ohio BTW and my friend is in Maryland.

Dale, feel free to use my 'testing method' if you are so inclined:

I use a laser pointer and if I can't see that laser pointer on the opposite side of my glass (e.g., tulip glass) then I declare that beer to be opaque/murky/turbid (pick your preferred term).

    Cheers!

It's funny how the west coast distributed bottles are less hazy and the east coast ones are more hazy. Maybe this has something to do with the generalized taste preferences of each region. It seems like most people prefer the more hazy and juicy versions compared to last year's. Hopefully this puts to rest the argument against hazy unfiltered IPAs. (doubtable)
