It was okay, but personally give me a founders Harvest ale or even better a fat heads hop stalker.

Wow, I’ve been drinking Born Yesterday and Harvest Ale over the past week. BY is a great beer at great value that I’d love to drink all the time. Harvest Ale is at best a mediocre beer (IMO obviously) that I’m done trying any more of in future years. Again, that’s just my opinion, and I understand you can have a different taste - just wanted to offer my perspective.

I think this year’s batch of BY is just as good as I expected.

A couple sixers down at this point. It has evolved slightly. Catching a lot less Onion or garlic from a week back.. Its now more of a spicy citrus. Just a huge citrus bomb. Almost like bitter non sweet orange peel. Never sweet. Never overly juicy.. Aromatics still AMAZING. Still tasting and finishing mostly dry. For what it is, It's AMAZING!

I dont know where yall live where a two week old product is considered an after thought. WHAT! I can maybe think of 3 out of 40 available IPAs that would be fresher/cheaper in a local beer store. You'd have to be lucky to find other Lagunitas products this fresh, let alone any other regional brewery around. Yeah, I can go get a fresh pint for $6 at any brewery in town, where maybe 4 or 5 come close to this.. I still contend this is a top 10 IPA in any market in anytown USA.

For what it is, It's not a NE IPA by any stretch of the imagination. Once you get past that crazy bias, I think you can enjoy the hell out of this product for another 2-3 weeks. The fall off will be the worst yet IMHO. But for this month until Thanksgiving, ENJOY IT!

Yep, no onion for me either.... Hate to be that guy but... I bought a case and the fall off is beginning....still pungent as hell but the flavors are definitely changing fast and I'm trying to burn through the rest as quick as possible... Still a great beer but doesn't have the pop it did right after purchasing... I usually gripe at people for making that statement but it's true in my case

    Per Lagunitas:

2017: we used fresh hops Simcoe, Citra & Mosaic with other hops in the hot side of the brew and normal dry hop

2016: we used Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, and Equinox (Born AGAIN used the same + Amarillo)

And it's not even that close, tbh.
I went through almost 2 cases of '16. I may only pick up another sixer of '17.

I totally disagree with you there. In my opinion the problem is hyper-sensitive culture, where if there is any sort of disagreement everyone gets categorized and labeled as [INSERT STEREOTYPICAL SOCIAL LABEL HERE]. There is also a strangely egotistical sense of self-righteousness where some people feel the need to exert their opinion on everyone (which I'm starting to do here with this comment, how f'ing ironic is that?!) and pass it off as complete and total fact and that, if you disagree, you are somehow the ""enemy" and absolutely need to be corrected. Respectful disagreement is (for the most part) completely dead.

Too bad you couldn't just leave it at that.

    Enjoy:laughing:

Anyway, onto the beer. I got mine tonight, bottled 10/16/17. Not as turbid or quite as citrusy as last year. Flavor is still good but it lacks that hoppy citrus "punch" that last years had. I really enjoy it but I probably won't be buying cases as I did last year.

    Cheers everyone!

Let me start by saying this year's is fantastic as always. I picked mine up last Thursday, and was blown away at how delicious it was. I had one last night, and I agree with some people that the flavor is changing a bit, but it was still very good. It's one of those beers meant to drink super fresh, so everyone get on it!

Does anyone know if the 10/16 bottling will be the only release of BY this year?
I know BAY was released over a couple of months period with different bottle dates earlier this year but haven't heard whether that will be the case with BY.

After hearing how limited it is, my assumption would be one go round.

Did not have last years but I dig this years. The hop combo is a classic throwback at what changed IPAs.

For those comparing to Hop Hunter or any other fresh hop brew this easily takes the cake and it is much more economical to boot.

I can really only speak for my area but I've never seen multiple bottling dates of BY. Hopefully I'm wrong cause I'd buy another case.

It's still drinking great, IMO, all those bitching about it being 2 weeks old are missing out.

Bought a case and glad I did. On the last sixer now and I enjoy it just as much as last years.

Landed at Norfolk VA TW today, grabbed a sixer... no limit. Looks like they got somewhat of a pallet of it.

I posted this in WBAYDN, but I just drank the last beer of my 1st sixer. IMO, this was the best one of the six. Seems the onion/garlic is changing to a citrus flavor as someone else noted. It's so good.

Really good. Hell last year you would have thought they brewed about 4 versions based on the reviews.

So glad I found this. Wet hop ales are hard to come by here. At 2 bucks a bottle, this can't be beat. Wish I knew the date. There is absolutely no code or date anywhere. Considering the whole fresh hop thing is the selling point, I don't see why there's no date.
