One of my favorite beers I've tried all year, I really think they nailed this one and am kind of surprised at some of the "meh" reviews.

Did you taste Born Yesterday of 2016?

    Cheers!

Got a 6’er for $11 locally, with brewed on date 10/5/2018. Enjoyed it quite a bit. A sharp finish, definitely reminded me of a WC IPA. Although the dankness was a bit much for my palate, was solid and easily drinkable.

This year's is very good, and at $12/6-pack and easily available, I'm not sure what all this fuss is about.

Then again, people will complain about everything, so why am I surprised.

It's a great price for what I'm sure is a good beer. Making it a good deal.

But it's also not the same beer that people felt they enjoyed in 2016. They could be giving it away for free, but if it's not what you want, the price doesn't matter.

I paid $11.99 at my local Chicago area Jewel store. For me it is a great value as this beer rocks.

What prices are seeing in other parts of the country?

In the South I have seen it for $10 at the low end and $12 on the high side most places around here seem to have it at $11

It's hit here in Louisville and I think it's a fantastic IPA. Of course it's also not a NEIPA so that will automatically turn people off to it.

Regardless, I love it and it will certainly hold me over until Celebration hits.

I agree but I think a lot of the confusion is caused because the version that seems to be the most popular (2016) was definitely leaning towards the NEIPA side of things

So 2 of the 12 that I ended up drinking had substantial hop floaties on the bottom of the glass bottles. They seemed to pop up when I accidentally let them get too cold in the freezer for a quick chill. Almost feels like it's chill haze. I didn't take photos but it definitely led to a slightly hazy appearance.

    Thinking mine came from California.

More or less brown specks floating around. It feels like deja Vu because I swear we had this conversation last year.

I got the same impression. Bitter, dank, and oniony are my primary descriptors. Fruit and citrus are subdued in comparison, to my palate. Not that I'm complaining. I personally like a little onion in my IPAs, and that isn't too easy to find. Good beer, but I won't be rushing out to buy more.

It’s very tasty, with a price that can’t be beat (just saw a 4 pack of Founder’s Harvest for $16). Too bad, though, that no one from Lagunitas posts here, as I’m very curious why they abandoned that amazing 2016 style. Too hard to brew? Too expensive? Nobody at Lagunitas realized how good it was?

In finishing this bottle, I notice some heat. Has it always been 7.7%? I thought it was more like 6.5% before.

It’s decent enough, definitely doesn’t touch 2016 (drank a LOT of that one!); and not as flavorful imo as 2017. It’s merely fine. That onion/bite aftertaste is a total vibe killer, takes this from a B+ to a B- easily.

And just want to say about people commenting on “people will complain about anything.” Look, I’m in Union County NJ, surrounded by some great beer stores, where I have a selection now of incredible local AND nicely distributed brews from around the USA that I never dreamed I’d have in October 2018. I won’t apologize for saying Born Yesterday 2018 isn’t as wonderful as about 15+ brews I can buy right alongside of it. This year’s edition is merely okay, and that’s based on past years plus what I can drink right now.

After having some of the fine fresh hop brews from the PacNW, I stand by my earlier assessment.... this beer is good but not great as previous years (e.g. 2014 and 2016). YMMV

The price point is nice, $12/6er in my part of CA. Cheers

Rated the 2014 version, drinking the 2018 version (10/08/2018) Dank green resins citrus fruit clear gold with an astringent quality in the finish. Nice beer Lagunitas.

Drank 4 of these last night. I don't know of a better fresh hop beer for $10.99 a six pack. Great beer...great price!

This is fine. It's nice to have a fresh Lagunitas Beer but honestly it's just an old school West Coast IPA.
Grassy dank with some citrus. I guess I'm just chasing the dragon of 2016.
I believe that batch was Citra.
I'm perfectly fine with this. I don't need the East Coast juice bombs 24/7. It's kind of nice to be reminded of how ipas were a decade ago.
But I have to say 2016 was complete heaven.

NO! You have to like this beer and appreciate it. We don't accept negative comments around here.

    Everything is awesome!

Like it or not, I'm amazed at the number of people that remember to the detail what an IPA from 2016 tasted like.
