Got some Maximus, and while it is delish as always, it's got some nice floaties going on and not as much hop up front as usual. Obviously it's a little dated but from what I can see there isn't really any way to tell when it was bottled. I do see a serial number or something on the bottom, is there some way of discerning the bottling date by this number? And B-T-Dub, Lagunitas friggin rocks...... just sayin....

The first 3 numbers of the code on the neck are a julian date. I did see some lil sumpin sumpin with a mm/dd/yyyy date on it the other day. They must be changing over. The lil sumpin sumpin 6er I saw it on was extremely fresh, so they must have just switched over.

I hope it's true as well. I had a bomber and was BLOWN away. grabbed a 6er the next week and did get the same pop that I did from the bomber so Im wondering how old the 6er was, been wanting to get another but the lack of dating had me worried.

My bad. I just dug the bottle out of the trash. It actually is still a julian date but it has the year as well. This is how the code reads now:
    101 2013
    60372102
So the top line is the julian date and the year. The bottom must be batch info. Sorry about the inaccurate info.:flushed:

I'm convinced they bottle every hundredth beer.

Yellow ink instead of black would help my old eyes see the date code.

It seems like the yellow ink rubs off more easily. I do agree that they gotta be able to make it easier to see.

Ya im looking on the bottle and it doesn't look anything like a julian date. Maybe these beers are so old they don't have one :grimacing:

What are the first 3 numbers? If they are something from 001 to 365 it's the day of the year it was bottled. Today is 121 so if it is a number greater than that it was bottled in 2012.

You mentioned a code on the bottom of the bottle. Check for a code on the neck in black ink, it should be there.

Send a BM to Papat444 with any more up to date bottle dating information that you may have, he runs the site and updates it with new info all the time.

Lagunitas is one of the hardest dates to actually find on the bottle, even though I know where to look. Rub off any condensation and hold it up to the light looking at the curved part of the neck.

While I'm here, does anyone know if victory stopped dating their beers? I know it used to be in the bottom left of the label but I haven't seen it on any of their stuff in a while. Hopdevil over 2-3 months old gets bad fast.

I wish every brewery would put the date on the label like Ballast Point. It's really annoying having to hold to the bottle up to the light to find a date.

Worst bottles to find dates on, you have to dig through half a sixer of Sucks to even figure out whats gonig on

With Lag, I just look at the case boxes as they have the julian code on the box in a much larger font.

Of course this isn't always an option for everyone.

Ok, I know Lagunitas uses a julian date. But my bottle looks like this:

    108 13
    6050 1524

I am hoping the 108 is the 108th date of year, if that the case this beer is relatively fresh. Anyone know for sure?

I believe so. You've got a beer from April.

    I hope so.

I looked a leftover bottle of Sucks I have and the there is just one string of numbers - 037901050. Weird they are labeled differently.
