Picked up my first sixer of Lagunitas Brown Shugga and... wow. This is some great stuff. A bit more syrupy than I remember but WOW!... what taste.

Anyone else feel this year's version is more tasty than previous years?

My first year trying it and I was not disappointed. $8.50 for a sixer of full flavored 10% ale that's quite easy to put down? I'm a fan.

Got a sixer earlier today. Starting with a Hop Stoopid, will post my impressions later. Was like $11 at BevMo.....eesh. The Hop Stoopids are 2 for $8 - much better.

I actually remember the 2012 batch being a bit sweeter. Also, wasnt brown shugga unfiltered last year?

Six 9.99% ABV beers for $11, is under $2/beer. A bomber of Stoopid (8% ABV) is $4, or more than $2 per 12 oz.

Doesn't see like a much better deal to me.

Yea but its a better beer in my opinion. If of course if you can find it fresh.

Anybody try cellaring Brown Shugga? I love Lagunitas, but Brown Shugga is way too boozy for me. Maybe it mellows with age?

If you go by just price Hop Stoopid would cost $13 for a sixer based on a $4 bomber price. If you prefer HS than yes its a better deal.

Going back to the OP, had shugga last week and it was great. With a fresh bottle the hops still shined through on the aroma.

$6.99 at Safeway...wasn't Sucks the 'Brown Shugga' replacement ?
Did they replace the replacement with the original this year ?
    I miss the Imperial Red.....

Never been a fan, but I gave Brown Shugga a try again this year. Once again, I thought it was a boozy, overly sweet mess . I'll take a $4 hop stoopid anyday over that. And I agree, I miss Imperial Red. That beer sent me on a huge kick of hoppy reds for quite some time.

Brown Shugga is good fresh, but it's so much better with a little age, it's not even funny. I'll stash a sixer now, then break it out next August or later.

Cool, I'll probably do that same and compare. Yeah, way too much alcohol smell and taste right now.

I remember past years having a much bigger mouthfeel and a tad sweeter. Maybe my imagination, but I can't wait for Sucks.

For me, Brown Shugga is the easiest drinking almost 10% ever. Almost a perfect cold weather beer, plenty of hops and a large body to go with it. Can't wait for its arrival!

It was my first try this season. I thought it was quite tasty; I had absolutely no idea it was anywhere near 10%! Way too easy drinking (that's not a bad thing, at all). I was a bit surprised at how hoppy it was, too.

Ditto, Saw. I think the booze is wonderfully well-hidden.

It's a good deal for the $/ABV Friday Night Ratio if that's what you're looking for.

Kind of a boozy mess though IMO. Malt bomb, Hop bomp, and a booze finish. It has it's place though. Glad to try it.

less than $9 for 6 beers at 10% sounds like a deal to me. Never tried it, usually not much of a fan of their beers.

I had it fresh last year and thought it was mediocre at best. Looking to crack a year-old to see if it has improved any.

My beer guy was at the brewery yesterday (we're 20 minutes away) and said they were bottling it that very moment and that along with Sucks, Hairy Eyeball is only a couple weeks away!
