Is it just me, or is this year's release much thinner than previous ones? Coffee is faint, and the mouthfeel is extremely light. The beer itself looks like a darker brown ale. In years past, I've really enjoyed this beer, but this is borderline a drain pour. Has anyone else thought this?

I actually thought last years was unimpressive as well. Thin, faint coffee, nothing to write home about. No drain pour though....

I have never been a huge fan of this beer, but I don't think it's any different from years past

Why is it so funny? I've had this same beer in years past, and it was much better before. I'm just stating an observation.

This is much different from that thread. For one, I'm not trying to get a rise out of anyone, and I'm not trying to open a can of worms. I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone has noticed this character in this year's release. Also, this beer has nowhere near the hype that Breakfast Stout does, and I would never compare the two because Breakfast Stout is a completely different animal. I don't normally post topics like this, unless I see a change in a beer.

Founders Breakfast Stout- Latest batch... Thin and artificial tasting?

Was very excited when I saw this latest batch bottled on 9-6-12 but something seems strange here.... almost like a lingering artificial coffee and a much thinner mouth feel then any other years batches

    totally different!

there has been a "newest batch worst ever?" thread for every beer released in the past six months

Never did I say anything about artificial. Thin? Yes. I hate to rip Lagunitas as they make some of my favorite year-round beers. This, however, was a complete miss. Like I said, these two beers are completely different animals, and shouldn't even be compared to each other in any way whatsoever.

Lagunitas makes a good beers in Capuccino Stout and Imperial Stout. Are they actually stouts? no. More like Brown ales.

they're both imperial stouts brewed with coffee if that's not grounds for comparison then literally nothing is

not that i care at all i just thought it was funny to see another "is this years batch worse" thread that was worded so similarity to another

I don't think it's any thinner than most Lagunitas attempts at a stout. Never had one that was particularly memorable.

How in any way, aside from the title, was it worded the same? People make observations about certain beers every time. Get used to it. Love the avatar, BTW. I am watching.

see EDIT, sorry for confusion. I think your inquiry is valid, and not like the FBS thread.

Lagunitas makes some of my favorite everyday standards. I agree. when it comes to darker offerings, they are average to good at best. I just remember this beer being a lot better in the past. Fuller and more complex. This release is just plain. Nothing exciting about it, really.
