After drinking whales, how could you stoop to a shelf beer? No wonder you didn't like it...

To be fair, I exclusively drink shelf beer, and I thought it was awful.

I'll have Day Time, and All Day and Wanderer session IPA's anytime. Really like them all. The hops are clean and the malt is subdued, letting the bitterness through. I think the smell is more than half of the experience here, and all are highly recommended.

Only $10 here. Liked it a lot. It definitely has its niche as a low alcohol full flavor ipa

That's what I was thinking...when it first came out, Safeway had it on sale for $6.99

Did you really expect a 4.6% IPA to be more than okay?

What's the minimum ABV required for a "good" beer?

I had a 3.5% IPA today that was superb.

Above 9.5% and more than 120 IBU's. Preferably only hopped with Citra's, Amarillos, and Galaxys. Cascades are sooooo 3 years ago.

$11 here in So Cal, I really dug the nose on it nice hops and everything. Taste wasn't even the same, watered down is a bad saying on this site but it's what it tasted like to me. It tasted like what those "American lagers" should taste like if they really did have hops in them. Really for a lighter alcohol hoppy beer, Stone's levitation is where I go. It's only 4.4 (Day time is 4.65) and I think it has more taste to it.

    Excellent, excellent response. Touche.

So, I guess I'll take the bait.

Obviously, there is no requirement. But it seems in this thread and in reviews for Daytime, it's being compared to all other IPAs on the market which to me seems a bit unfair. Being that it's a "fractional" IPA and 4.6% it's never going to achieve the same body and mouthfeel as say, Union Jack, Torpedo, Racer 5 etc...you get where I'm going.

For a beer you can drink all day, and barely has more ABV than a Coors Light, I think Daytime is Un-Freaking real. Not bad right outta the bottle. Great tailgating beer. Again $6.99 on sale at Safeways here in the SF Bay Area

    Cheers!

I agree with Rbass. I think this is a very good beer. I was lucky enough to find a case this past weekend. While I thought it was a little pricey 12.99 I truly enjoyed it and would make it part of my regular roation if it was year round and not so difficult to get. I am fortunate though That New England has Galaxy for growler fills this weekend

That's a very reasonable response. My point was mainly that it is unfair to compare to a DIPA given the ABV, but more so that you can make a great beer at any ABV. I would prefer more hoppy lower alcohol options, but unfortunately have not had All Day or Day Time, but the latter just hit here so I plan to fix that soon.
