This was the first Lagunitas release in quite some time I really didn't like. Thought the sweetness was dialed to 11 here, had trouble finishing the bomber. And I'm not that guy.

All kinds of weird questions around this beer. Like what it could have possibly been like back in 1995... I mean there wouldn't be any Simcoe around for another half-decade, much less Equinox! And @TongoRad it would be quite surprising if they were using the 'Westmalle' strain way back then, but since the marketing tagline clearly can't align with the hops listed on the bottle, who knows! I did get some distinct vick's vaporub in there. Interesting beer that I won't likely go back to, though the feel is pretty fantastic.

Thanks- it's good to know they weren't using that strain back then. I went into this one pretty much cold, but was surprised by what I experienced. It's sort of comforting too to see I'm not the only one who got that medicinal aspect in the beer.

I'm still undecided if I will get another one to see if I get the same quality again, but now that I've had Southern Tier's 2XOne with Equinox hops I just might. In that one I get no medicine at all, so it might not just be the hops, but the way that Lagunitas uses them. There could have also been some carry-over effects going on, so you never know until you do it again.

I just had the Hill Farmstead Excursions #3 which seems to be all Equinox hops and it was very interesting and I even had some difficulty searching for the descriptors regarding the hop flavors.

Sounds like i really want to try this. Always like to try different types of beers made in special ways lol. Love everything I've tasted from Lagunitas so far. Actually I seen Equinox at the beer store earlier but decided on the Night Time Ale instead, mayb next time...
