That place pisses me off the way they do business.

Grabbed a sixer today in Plainfield Ct for $14.65. Ridiculous value imo

Walk in, pull down your trousers, strap on knee pads, apply chapstick. That being said, hard to argue with their selection.

Paid $10 for mine. $15 sure seems outrageous to me.

Do the math. $4 x 6 = $24. 50% more than other places at least.

Haven't seen it in central MA or in RI yet, despite what the Lagunitas beer finder says. Really don't want to miss out on this one.

Wish I were there, I'm in the Midwest right now and was only able to get one bottle (at $2), because the shop I went to only got one case and I was told twice only 7 cases came in to the whole state. If multiple cases are being put out in numerous stores up there there's something screwed up in distribution somewhere. It's not like they don't sell any here, I buy the IPA and several of the normal releases throughout the year and got a case for myself of both Waldo and BY (as well as a case of Waldo in Western MA) and I'm hardly the only fan around.

Snagged the last sixer at Burlington Wine for $11.21 - after seeing most places limit it to 1-2 bottles pp, and sell out in a few hours, I figured this was one release I'd miss. Sometimes it just takes dumb luck, I guess.

I had a store owner in RI ask his distributor about this and was told that it is not even going to be distributed. Has anyone seen this around Worcester at all? Might just drive to CT otherwise and hope for the best.

So, now that the acquisition portion of the thread seems to have run its course - what did people think?

I thought it was really tasty and obviously a great value, but, as this was my first adjunct bourbon barrel stout, I was also left thinking that I'm not as excited about the addition of coffee as most people seem to be. It seems almost counterproductive to cloud the flavor of the bourbon after you've gone to all the trouble to let it sit in a barrel for a year. I realize it's a minority opinion but I guess I'd prefer my adjuncts in regular stouts and to let the bourbon barrel stuff stand on its own.

For people who've had other bourbon barrel aged coffee stouts, how did this compare?

This is a defensible perspective, for sure. I stay away from barrel aged "pepper" beers for the same reason: the barrel aging overwhelms the beer (and my palate) and diminishes the interplay between the various flavors, i.e. Clown Shoes' Luchador En Fuego and Prairie's BA Bomb!. I feel like I completely miss the intent on these two highly rated BA beers but I enjoy the non-BA versions very much. Same with vanilla - I prefer to pick up vanilla from the barrel as opposed to any adjuncts so when I see the two combined I just carry on.

At the same time, this is also the same reason why I enjoy High Westified, BCBS and KBS - these three beers manage to have the barrel characteristics compliment the coffee without detracting from it, which is what I look for in a barrel aged beer; not so much the barrel playing the lead role but the heat, oak and vanilla playing supporting parts to enhance the base beer. Hard to nail but a few really do it well.

Just got a sixer of this for $13.50 at the Bedford Package Store on Great Rd. There were at least a few more sixers on the shelves there.

Also bombers of Breakfast Exorcism... which rules.

Are people still finding this in CT or is distribution pretty much done?
