Here you have two semi-sweet Imperial Reds in the high 7% range with similar appearance, flavor, mouthfeel & aroma.

While Lagunitas may concentrate on less IBUs, I find it to be more hop forward (possibly due to more late additions) than Nugget Nectar - which I still find hoppy, but with slightly more malt prominence shining through.

Another interesting fact is how much love Nugget Nectar receives compared to Lagunitas Imperial Red. I find them both to be quite similar in character and price. Overall, they're really both quite similar. I think they're the two most "alike" examples of the Imperial Red style.

This is great to hear since there's no Nugget Nectar distribution out here but I've got a Lagunitas Red in the fridge!
