They unretired it earlier this year and brought it back. I'm sorry to say you most likely missed it, although there might still be some on shelves, but it wouldn't be fresh. Should be more next year, we shall see..

I would be really bummed if Lagunitas skips this one this year. It was one of my greatest discoveries last year having never had it before. I bought at least a case and a half over the course of it's existence in my neck of the woods. Sincerely hope they plan on releasing it again this year...

I just took a look at their redesigned website. It looks like Sucks is replacing Red on their seasonal lineup. I was hoping that both would be made available.

Just put some red food coloring into a Lagunitas IPA - all of their beers taste exactly the same! And this is coming from a Nor Cal guy.

I recall hearing that it originally wasn't flying off shelves for some reason, which is hard to believe. So I'm pretty sure that's why they retired it. But they brought it back this year due to popular demand. I think that's how the story goes. It's usually released early in the year. Not sure the plans on it for 2013..

While they don't taste exactly the same, many of the special releases have only subtle differences between them. In a blind taste test, I'm sure I'd have a bit of difficulty distinguishing between the Sucks, Imperial Red, WTF and Lucky 13.

And no, the Imperial Red is not scheduled for a 2013 release.

Huh, I thought maybe they had brought it back, as I've seen it reappear in three stores (in two states) in the last week. I didn't bother to look at the dates because (having tried it fresh) I'm not fond of the beer and wasn't planning on buying it, but maybe a pallet just got unburied at a Northeast US distributor and made its way around.

Recieved this from Lagunitas last week, no red this year at least.

    Hi Scott,

We will not be releasing the Imperial Red. What we decided to do instead was take our seasonal, Lucky 13 and make her into a Mondo Red Ale. We took aspects of the original Lucky13 brew and parts of the Imperial Red to bring 2 worlds together.

I suggest you give it a chance. If it’s the worst thing that has ever happened to you. Call me, we can talk about this.

Otherwise, I hope this is kinda-sort of mostly helpful.

    Thanks & Cheers!
