Lagunitas Imperial Red?

Not released... Basically, the worst thing that has ever happened or will ever happen in the entire universe. Lagunitas Sucks.

 

It seems to be every other year that this beer is released. One of my favorite reds as well.

 

No Gnarlywine either. They vary their seasonals year to year.

Different beer, but also an "Imperial" Red, and actually released this year. Basically the same rating on BA--the Imperial Red is 4.15 on 1192 ratings compared to the Lucky 13 being rated 4.13 on 1295 ratings. And the Lucky 13 has an additional 1.1% ABV and 23 IBUs.

I picked one up at Trader Joe's last week.

 

Not the same beer, but they're pretty darn similar. Having had Lucky 13 first, I was surprised to discover the existence of Imperial Red, frankly. So it's not much of a loss IMHO.

But...they're still not the same beer.

Anyways, the good news from their website seems to be that Little Sumpin Wild is going to be in bombers AND 6 packs this year. Hopefully you like that one to help make up for the loss. And if you don't, then hopefully you didn't buy a lot of whatever 6 pack replaced the Imperial Red this year

Well, of course they aren't. I'm just saying they are the same style and have similar ratings, so perhaps not the end of the world that one has been discontinued...

As your note about Wild points out, there are a lot of good beers about in the universe. For every great beer that is discontinued, there are likely a half dozen others that can step into their place, whether they are the same style or not.

 

I talked to the Lagunitas guys at FWIBF and they said that it will be released next year but for now that I would have to settle for Lucky 13... Seriously, it's my favorite Imperial Red and I wish they would just make this a year round beer.

 

Just picked up a Bomber of this beer, and I LOVED IT. Did a quick google search, and I saw that it once came out in 6-pks. Is this still the case, or is it entirely in bomber format only now?
