Lagunitas IPA with a Cubs "W" on the label?

Tony tweeted this out a minute ago. Looks like they are running these. Don't know how limited these labels are or if they will be available outside the brewery. I would definitely guess so. Not a Cubs fan but this is pretty cool.

I went to Lagunitas Saturday night. They were selling the "W" bottles in the bar area. But you could not buy six packs to go or anything. I didn't ask if they were hitting distro. Still had Born Yesterday in the store! But the "W" bottles are definitely legit. You weren't being trolled!

 

Anyone know if these hit distro out west or just in the Midwest?

 

I'm guessing it's midwest only, but they're hitting distribution. You won't find full 6-packs of the W labeled bottles though. They're being randomly mixed in with the regular label IPA bottles so you're only likely to find one or two Ws per sixer:

Willy Wonka's golden ticket themed idea. They broke open a case of W's at the taproom after the Cubs parade and rally.

 

I'd love to find one for a diehard Cubbie pal of mine.

 

If you guys happen to have a FO (or similar stouts) lying around, check out the ISO forums. Seems some people are willing to part with some shelf IPAs for big BA stouts. In case you couldn't tell, i find that unbelievably ridiculous....

 

Yeah, Chicago area only. I was lucky enough that the local bar in my condo complex got one and gave it to me..but I've been sifting through any IPA sixer I see the last two weeks!

 

If they would put them in the 12-pack boxes instead of the 6-packs, the search would be much more interesting. Besides, employees could search a case of sixers before they ever hit the shelves.

Can anyone confirm these are available to purchase at the brewery? Hard to find any info...

 

They only sold single bottles to drink at the taproom when we were there after the Cubs rally a couple of weeks ago. Full bottles and sixers to go were not available. Another person told me that he went shortly after and they were sold out. Call their store to see if they can help.

 

They posted on Twitter that they are sold out of the W bottles.

 

Has anyone found a W bottle in distro outside of Chicago?

 

Anyone know where I could find one? I'm a die hard Cubs fan and have held season tickets in the bleachers for almost 2 decades. It would mean the world to me to find one of these. How limited was the distribution?

 

If you want one now, there are several on eBay. Selling anywhere from $20 to $40 each. They'll definitely be cheaper if you're willing to wait a while. Demand is crazy right now.

 

I stopped by Lagunitas on Sunday and I was told that the Cubs put the kibosh on this. They said that some cases got out there, but that they had recalled them. Assuming most liquor stores complied, these will be very hard to find without spending big bucks on Ebay for an empty bottle.

 

They are out in distro folks. Stopped into the local shop by the house and just wanted a 6er to have a few tonight. Quite the surprise when I got home!! This was not mixing and matching, legit 2 bottles in 1 6pk!

 

I believe they release this once every 108 years. Go Tigers!
