If looking for a code on a bottle for 15 seconds is too much work (as a few people have posted), that's called laziness.

If they don't know anything needs to be done (as in looking for bottling dates), how would they know whether a beer would be fresh or not?

I find people's complaints about Lagunitas's dating system to be reasonably legitimate for the reasons I and others have stated. I find @Oktoberfests continual dismissive haranguing of anyone who disagrees with him in these Lagunitas threads to be tiring. That's pretty much it.

And I'm confused by your last point. No other beer company is delivering beer to your driveway. Many other beer companies have more straightforward dating systems.

LOL, two arguments you mean? Which are both valid?

Imagine a forum where we all agreed? Sorry I post on a forum why I believe something is good or bad, important or not.

I love the "Don't be lazy and dumb argument' for Julian coding.

    Find Julian code
    Empty contents
    Find Paper towel
    Squint
    Do Math

Sure, I'm being a little facetious... That said people are asking for a '12-27-16' on the bottle. I think one company doing this (like most others do) would save lots of time. Starting with reading about it one here every 4 months.

I think their New Dogtown pale ale is a great APA and it was the first of their beers to make it onto shelves here. It then took a couple of years until the IPA showed up and became widely available (due to the success of New Dogtown). I was surprised when I finally tried the IPA to find that it was less hoppy than the pale ale that they were already selling over here, seeing as how little their pale ale is talked about, and how their IPA is their biggest seller, at least to my knowledge. I thought that was surprising.

At $8.99 I would be backing up the truck .
In fact at $11.99 I would still be backing up the truck .
Possibly the tastiest brew I've ever had and when you consider the price it's like a "Happy Ending" :grinning::grinning::grinning:

    Oh, no argument there.

But since I'm relatively local to their brewery, I do tend to try all their stuff anyway. The stuff I really enjoy from them are:
    • Equinox
    • Waldo's Special Ale (draught version only... the bottle tastes slightly off)
    • Imperial Stout
    • NightTime
Some of the others are decent (Born Yesterday, Little Sumpin' Sumpin', 12th of Never), but I think IPA is their worst beer.

don't be confused. as straight forward possible, my point was fairly simple. a company uses their resources as they see fit.

Lagunitas can kiss my ass. I fell in love with new dogtown pale ale, and they discontinued it. When I emailed them about it they never got back to me. The beer was gone, but they still listed it on their website. I used to hope for its return, but now I have moved on.

As you may already know, I love their stuff. But, I gotta give you respect for being a straight shooter my friend. This would be a legitimate reason to not like a brewery (unlike the posts about the Julian code).

Enjoying a Maximus that is 3 weeks old right now. Doesn't get any better than that although I do only have one left . . .

Wait...are you sure about this? Is this in fact discontinued? There are reviews from late December.

I've never had the opportunity for West-ified, but it's on my radar.

I do think Wilco Tango Foxtrot is the best hopped Brown ever!

Lagunitas definitely packs a lot of bang for the buck and I can't be convinced otherwise.

Saw a few cases of this at the distro. So mad that I didn't pick one up. Have been hearing nothing but great things about High Westified...

He is, the Perch is pretty cool, and the Monk is one of my regular hang outs. You ever get back this way let me know. We can meet up at the Perch and I will buy you a beer.

I get how to read the code, point is why the hell not just make it easy. This is literally my only problem with lagunitas. Best beer for the $- Waldo and BY are insane considering the price points.

    not just make it easy.

I agree that most of their hoppy stuff (that is most of their stuff) taste similar, even their oktoberfest!. I have always thought of Lagunitas as the AC/DC of beers, and I love both Lagunitas and AC/DC, so no complaints here.

If Sierra Nevada, Founders, and Stone can have clear, legible, normal dates, than Lagunitas can, too. The Julian dating is pointless and inconvenient. However, that's my only real problem with Lagunitas, who are otherwise one of my favorite breweries. I like to love everything I've tried from them, and their prices are almost unbeatable.

I hear that, but not hard in Chicago these days. HW is such a good beer for the money (and not one that needs to be fresh btw).
