It will probably be around $10.99-11.99 here in Central PA, but still an amazing deal since mediocre beers from Sierra Nevada are around the same price.

I started picking up their 22 ounce Imperial Stout for $4.69. It is a great beer at an even greater price. Looking forward to Hop Stupid in sixers.

It's easy to figure out when it's near the beginning or end of a year, yes, but in the middle of the year? Different story. Could you easily figure out what day 211 is immediately off the top of your head?

Divide by 30, whatever your whole number is, is the number of months into the year and the remainder is the day. Give or take.

Without looking it up, 211 would be end of July beginning of August.

Edit: looked it up - July 30th.

I've enjoyed several of their offerings. Brown Sugga and Sucks are both excellent off-beat takes, where their hop-forward attitude brings an interesting balance to an otherwise sweet style. On the other hand, they are pretty much catering to the "hop heads" only, and some of their takes (Stoopid Wit comes to mind immediately) are examples of taking "hop forward" where it doesn't belong.

The difficulty for me is reading the 211 in black ink on a brown bottle.:slight_frown:

I have on more than one occasion said to myself: I should take the flashlight out of the trunk of my car and bring it into the store.:astonished:

    Cheers!

Lol, they just need to use yellow or white ink as someone has already stated. As far as the Julian calendar, if you know how to do math it is easy. If not, Google it is lol.

The math is more doable for me. Seeing the 'data' is the challenge.

    Cheers!

That wasn't geared towards you. That was in general. It may be quicker for some folks to just use the calendar online.

I have to agree with those who say they are keeping the bottle dating more difficult on purpose. There's no reason whatsoever they can't just print it clearly on the label or in contrasting ink on the bottle itself, and in an easily read and understood format to all. I can't imagine anyone arguing that the current situation could not be improved.

That said, my hats off to Lagunitas for making some very good beers available in very good formats at a very good price range. Well done! I hope more breweries follow their example and bottle their beers in 12 oz 6 packs at an affordable price. This past year I've purchased more of their beer than any other brewery other than possibly Firestone Walker, and I will keep doing so if they continue practicing their current philosophy. Good beer doesn't have to be expensive.

I've used the flashlight on my phone to read them more than a few times.

I do carry a flashlight and a small magnifying glass which work better than holding the bottle up in the air trying to catch the right combination of background and light.

You must have been a boy scout when you were young: "Be Prepared".

There have been times where I have taken bottles out of the 6-pack holders and totally failed at reading the dates via the "holding the bottle up in the air trying to catch the right combination of background and light" method. I put the bottle back in the holder and instead bought a beer that had legible and easy to read (e.g., Bottled on Month, Day Year) markings. The brewery that made it difficult (impossible) for me to discern the date lost my business.

I will now set my timer to see how long until Tom sends me a reply that I should send an e-mail to the offending brewery with a message of which other brewery's beer I bought instead.

    Cheers!

Just got back from the local store. Got a 6 packs of Sucks that was bottled on 344 6 = 12/10/16. Fresh as can be for the other side of the country. Bottle was easy to read, too.

It's all fresh here. Little Sumpin' Sumpin' was 343 6, but chose Sucks instead.
