Jack- I think you should at least take another look at their bottles. The ones I got yesterday were much easier to read than they ever have been, and it even looks like they have made deliberate efforts to improve the quality. I used to have to use my phone flashlight app also, but the location and clarity of the text didn't require that at all. Maybe Lagunitas hasn't gone as far as other brewers have wrt dating, but I do have to complement them on making the strides that they have.

Michael I will continue to purchase Lagunitas beers as long as I can discern the freshness of the beers.

A couple of months ago I purchased four 6-packs of Lagunitas Born Yesterday but a strong indicator of the freshness of that beer was in the labeling. I know that this beer was not a favorite of yours but I thought the 2016 Born Yesterday was AWESOME!!

    Cheers!

What makes you say it's from across the country? Most likely from the Chicago brewery for you. That's the last number in your beloved Julian dating. 1 is from cali, 2 is from chicago

My beloved Julian dating . . . LOL. I wouldn't say I love it, but there's worse things in life to complain about man.

He probably got so caught up in his braggadocio that he doesn't actually have any at all to look at. Or maybe I confused him. In case I did, here is how you tell where it's from octoberfist, on your Julian dating it goes xxx 6 then either 1 or 2. 1 is cali, 2 is chicago.

What was I bragging about? That the Julian calendar isn't hard to figure out? Explaining that a beer is fresh wouldn't be bragging.

For the last week or so you've been challenging everyone on the sn thread and now this one. I've never challenged you and I'm not now. I just am asking which lagunitas brewery you get your beer from. You stated it came from across the country, which implies california, but I think it probably comes from chicago. Which is what I'm asking. You can go on fighting with everyone, I don't mind. I like sierra Nevada and I like lagunitas. I'm just trying to find out where your beer shipped from LOL

[IMG] That's Lagunitas IPA, my first time trying it, and I've got zero complaints. Great brew. The Waugh St. Whole Foods in Houston always has super fresh beer, so I probably won't be able to get it this fresh out of the bottle, but you can bet I'll give it a try. Very, very hopalicious.

i think he means that all of their beers taste the same. I can see where someone can get at that, as I feel similarly with Sierra Nevada hoppy beer, or any large brewery replicating similar styles: the house yeast and brewing practice will start to create a signature flavor. I love it either way.

I was reading through this thread and thinking that Lagunitas IPA is hardly ever mentioned. I think I tried 7-8 of their beers and then one day I realized that I never had their IPA. It's such a solid beer and one of my favorites now.
