Lagunitas Willetized Coffee Stout

Can't wait to do a comparison taste test with this and the sixer of high westified I have left!

 

I'm totally on the same page. Once a bourbon barrel is involved I'd prefer to just leave it at that and not cloud things with additional flavors. Coffee in particular seems like it clashes a bit with the warm, round flavors that the bourbon provides, at least to my palate.

That said, I still drank nearly a case of High Westified last year and I'm likely to repeat that this year with the Willet version.

 

This. The local Lagunitas rep confirmed earlier this year with me that the High West barrels wouldn't be available for sourcing next time, so they'd be looking for another option. Willet is a fine replacement.

Y'all know there's a 2017 version of High-Westified as well right? Just saw stacks of it land at my 'local'

 

I think that's probably the same one everyones talking about....it was released Dec 2016 / Jan 2017...oh, I guess I shouldn't have to tell you to SNATCH SOME UP!!!

 

Perhaps they got one last shipment of barrels from High West before their agreement ran out.

 

My last bottles said 2016 on em. These new ones say 2017.

 

What's the bottled on date for the 2017's?

 

It was bottled in January of 17 for sure, I think maybe into February as well.

 

Those are the 2016's. All my 2016 One Hitter Series High Westified's have a Jan 2017 bottled on date. I was wondering what the 2017 One Hitter Series High Westified bottled on date is. I'm assuming it's within the last few weeks if they're just hitting shelves now.

 

No they don't. I bought 2016 high westified in November and December of 2016 bottled out of petaluma. I also bought more high westified in February 2017 that was bottled in January out of Chicago (I might have snagged some that was bottled in February too).

The same release, more or less as they were bottled 2 months apart. If @johnnybeers is seeing some land on shelves I'm guessing it's just a leftover stock of the november-February release. I don't think they're still bottling this but I could be wrong and maybe they had a few late filled barrels.

 

Yes they do, I double checked before I made the post. 2016 High Westified bottled Jan 6 2017.

 

Re read my post. All 2016 hw doesn't have a 2017 bottle date. I bought it in November and december. And yes, February too (bottled in 2017).

 

Re read my post, I never said all 2016's were bottled in 2017. That would make no sense. All I want to know is the bottled on dates of the 2017's that people are now seeing hit the shelves. The High Westified's I have bottled in early 2017 are the 2016 vintage.

 

I can confirm that there is an august 2017 release of high westified.

I saw it at multiple stores in sf with "2017 one hitter series" labels and "230 7 1" bottle dating. 230th day of the year, 17, petaluma.

Just found it, the 230th day of 2017, which is August 18th. Fresh!

 

This is kinda crazy...No mention of it on their website that I ever saw and they are always good at listing their releases and dates...Why make it such a secret I wonder...and ponder what could be?

 

Dang. I would love to find some. We barely got it last time though.
