I’ll save you a trip, I was just in there and they’re all gone. I’m surprised that store could move all those cases of barrel aged beer in under a week. I bet one random beer nerd bought them all!

Damn, thanks for the tip though. Maybe I'll check the Fortuna Safeway or bevmo and see if I have any luck there

Permit me to share an old story related to this topic.

"Back in the day' Lagunitas made a fresh hopped beer called Born Yesterday. A Retail Beer Distributor sent me an e-mail one year they just got this beer in stock (I bought a case from them the year before). I parked my car and as I walked in the store I saw an SUV backed up to the door and case after case of Born Yesterday was coming out of the store and being placed in the back of the SUV. I peeked in as I walked in the store and there were many cases in there and I thought to myself WTF! I walked into the store a bit anxious that they might be sold out of Born Yesterday but to my then relief there were still a few available for sale. I was tempted to say to the owner: hey, why are you selling so many cases to one person? But I did not say anything. Maybe I should have?

    Cheers!

Haha crazy! They were likely reselling them in a concert parking lot.

    You might be right here.

I was thinking, at the time, is that the guy was doing a group buy (e.g., his homebrew club) but you are likely more accurate here.

    Cheers!

If I found Born Yesterday cases that were fresh, I too would load, at minimum, three cases into my crossover SUV.

Thinking the average “concert” goer is not paying that price in a parking lot.

    Enjoy

Well, I checked a couple more stores and totally struck out. That's about all the effort I have in me for this beer this year. Seems like our area got very little of this stuff this year which is surprising to me considering that our area seems to consume a fair bit of Lagunitas product

True but I was picturing a jam band show or hippie festival. Fresh IPA’s would sell out easily!

Still nowhere to be found here in southern Cal. Same with FW Pivo. They make it just a few hours from here, yet it seems that you can find it all over the country, but not here. Oh well, at least we have 20,000 different IPAs to choose from.

We don't see Pivo up here either. FW walker distribution hasn't made any sense to me in a long time

Just saw a few 4 packs left at my local ABC the other day when I was there.

Compared to how much a beer costs inside a large concert venue? You could sell a beer like BY for $5 a bottle and still make out pretty good and that would still probably be less than half of what a BMC beer costs inside the venue.

I was thinking the same thing. Your “standard beer” - choose any beer you like - is always ~ $10.

Just show up with SNPA. More profit there at $5. Just seems like an odd choice to buy out to be selling in a parking lot.

    Enjoy

So, for sure a “pro tip” is bring stuff with you. If you’re a whiskey drinker a flask or sample bottles is the way to go. If you like beer, a strong ABV beer you can enjoy over several hours works well. But, a lot of people forget or otherwise aren’t so “alcohol centric” as to think about it. Or, they are young and don’t plan that way.

A bigger problem now aday to bringing in your own alcohol is the no bags/purses rule and metal detectors. When I took my wife to see Garth Brooks in Louisville back…5 or 7 years ago now, it was a full shake down. So, no getting around that unless you use the glass sample bottles and only have a couple in your pocket.

My old barber told me a story about how he went to a sporting event with a few friends and one friend smuggled in some whisky which was contained in an pre-shave bottle (I am fairly certain he said it was Lectric Shave) and that they passed this ‘flask’ around and took swigs from it.

The idea of drinking from an pre-shave bottle just does not sound appealing to me. :flushed:

    Cheers!

P.S. And there is the swapping spit factor as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yea. Definitely not ever using those. But 1 and 2oz Boston rounds work well. It’s standard in the whiskey community to use Boston rounds up to about 8oz, although they are for a different purpose than the 1 and 2oz’s, usually.
