Parosmia means covid really fucked up my sense of smell ; more specifically coffee and body odor.
    per the interwebz:

"Parosmia is a distorted sense of smell. It happens when smell receptor cells in your nose don't detect odors or transmit them to your brain."

From the ( very limited)research I've done it seems like in 7 months I'll fully recover. It last around 18 months .

Unfortunately when many people talk about coffee flavor they are thinking about the burnt flavor Starbucks and their ilk have pushed on us for decades. Which is a shame because, as you mentioned, coffee can (should) taste floral and fruity... it comes from a fruit after all.

Ah, well that sucks. I've heard/read a little about zinc possibly helping restore smell.

My sense of smell has been fucked up since I was a kid so I have no context for "losing" it. But it doesn't sound fun

I only do Geisha, Kopi Luwak and Yirgacheffe :sunglasses:
Luckily my friend has his own company he started with just a 40lb roaster in his garage so I'm no stranger to all kindsa coffee.
People who drink craft and settle for starbucks confuse me a bit

If there are any fellow Texans left on here, I finally got a 4-pk at Total in DFW today. Looks like very limited distro, one case perhaps, so seek now.

I'm not getting as much coffee as I would like which is not unexpected after nearly 6 months in the bottle. Still, it's a very good BA and a tremendous value.

Thanks. The same way that your were having difficulty trying to explain, so we’re we. Everyone obviously knows what a seed is and that plants have seeds, but trying to understand what you are using it for was confusing. Again, hobby or work? Not sure about others, but I am not a farmer, but I have a pretty green thumb, as does my family (which include farmers). Couldn’t seem to figure out what the hell you were doing with this. Surely it wasn’t for sunflower seeds. Seems like more work than necessary for a hobby (unless you are super duper into doing everything yourself). I know nothing about weed, so I wouldn’t have had any idea this was used for that.

Do I also apologize for detailing the thread? We already hVe 2 other apologies.

I’m pretty sure they add the coffee beans during the boil, before fermentation and barrel aging which results in a mild coffee flavor as opposed to something like Bourbon County which has straight cold brew coffee blended in right before bottling. That results in huge coffee flavor.

I was starting to feel like a dick for just trying understand the context. I mean, I am a dick but I was just trying to ask if i was missing something obvious. I'm just glad I'm not the only person who was a little lost.

Anyways. Willetized fucks. Haven't personally found any in my parts yet but I made a [unattainable] pact with myself to not buy anymore stouts for a while/few years while I recover some room in my basement.

So....after wading through this thread, is this beer anywhere on the east coast?

We got a bunch of it here in NC. Had a single, thought it was fine but wasn't compelled to get any more. Have always preferred High Westified from way back.

For $12 a steal for a 4PK . Coffee was muted and bitter IMO. The base stout barrel and rye on point thou.

I am in Central New York and don't look for specific beers really ever, except this one, for some reason. Like it's some kind of game.

I feel like its tantalizingly close. So many around are posting about it. I have yet to see it. Anyone else in my neck of the woods have any info?

I feel like the coffee has been muted in every version, which i'm totally fine with, i'd rather have barrel character anyway, and too many strong flavors don't tend to mesh well in any beer style...

As i said earlier I have parosmia so i could give two shits about varieties of coffee presence in beer. I can taste it a bit but can't smell it too much.
At worst you're getting a world class Rye BA Imperial Stout 4 pack of 12oz bottles for under 15 bucks in some places and 12 dollars in others.

Ah, I missed that. but you're not missing much when it comes to the coffee anyway. I have bad allergies usually so I can rarely smell either
