it is out....unless I got old stock but this place has never had it before...seems different....great though...for the first time I am getting a bit of smoke/peatiness to it.....anyone else getting that? I never did before but love it in this beer......better than ever and I loved it before...

I tried to go to their website for answers but it is not functional right now...

Thanks for the heads up...this is one of my winter favorites. I have a couple of last years batch cellared so I'll have to do a side-by-side tasting.

Last year they added a small percentage of smoked malt (cherrywood I think?) to Old Man, but it might have been only in some of the batches to test it out, not sure. Awesome to hear they seem to be doing that again, thanks for the post! Loved the smokey version for a winter brew.

OMWW has always struck me as a pretty straightforward British style barleywine; sweet, generically fruity, and with their yeast strain being prominent. A couple of batches in recent years have had a very light, smoke character, and last year there was something very much like a peat character that threw me a little at first, and it was enough for me to match it up next to Warped Speed.

It would definitely be worth trying last year's next to the fresh batch.

I've had a hard time finding it for several years, but this new light smoke might lead me to search a little harder than normal.

Just heard that their Winter Solstice spiced ale (draught-only?) will make another appearance. I rarely see their taps locally, but maybe Pracna or Washington Square might get it.
