Just popped in to Lakefront. Beer Hall Manager was putting on the My Turn: Pilo Imperial Pilsner and their Hop Trial 17 Organic Belgian IPA. Both were fantastic however the Hop Trial IPA was my favorite. And for a growler price of $14 I am leaving a happy camper.
All of the Hop Trails I've had of theirs have all been fantastic. Every IPA they push out is exceptional. I pretty strongly dislike session IPAs, but Extended Play was actually pretty damn good. It's the only one I've ever had that I would consider buying again. Having Johnson year round would be awesome, but they would need to make sure the bottles are clearly dated. It was amazing when fresh, but went downhill pretty quick. What they need to do is start pumping out more extreme brews. The "My Turn" line is doing pretty decent with that, but they need to go a little further. An Imperial BA Riverwest would be amazing. Any sort of thick and strong stout or porter would fill in a huge gap of theirs.
That's one problem with the Johnson. It doesn't cellar at all. Same with any super hoppy beer. The imperial amber ale they have "bridgeburner" is my go to super hoppy beer they produce.
Also I don't know about a thick stout. I've asked and they said check back right before thanksgiving. They are also doing a batch of snake chaser for Irish fest and their beer hall.
