I just tried the new Lakefront Brewery Blueberry Berliner at at tasting in Oshkosh, WI. Pretty exciting to try such a new beer. It wasnt the greatest beer ever though. The flavor was very light and almost bland. It had a light blueberry taste that hinted of a sour beer. Would probably be great as a light beer to drink on a summer afternoon in the sun. They paired it with a salad which went together decently well.

Would this one be hitting distro? Hard to find good Berliners easily these days.

Never heard of this...... Maybe it could be their next 25th anniv beer 4pack?? Just a thought, because they should be releasing a new one soon since their first has been out for 4 months now....

Thats a good possibility, Jim Klisch, one of the co founders was there to present it and he was pretty excited about it.

I was at that tasting too. Asked Jim about where this type of beer falls into their production cycle and if it will ever be distributed. He basically said its along the lines of a research & development beer. They brewers use a firkin to make a small batch of something never intended for distribution other than for tapping at special Lakefront events (like beer dinners, craftbeer festivals, tap takeovers, etc). He said it's possible one of these firkin beers could grow into a seasonal or one-off for production - but very doubtful. Hope that helps.

Just to let you guys know. The flavor of their Berliner is from their syrup they pour in it. I tired their cherry / normal Berliner with a side shot of syrup.... I thought it was decent. Worth bottling over Wisconsonite. Their next 25th anniv. Beer is an Apricot Belgian Style ale. Due out within a few weeks. (Russ didn't seem too happy to talk about it but one of their Reps did. Take a grain of salt while drinking this beer maybe?)
