So did you manage to acquire a few bottles?

They keep making this event better and better. Maybe one year I'll be able to stick around and enjoy the morning instead of focusing on trying to get some rest before work. My only "gripe" this year was that they had one pint glass for every bottle. The last thing I need is another Lakefront pint glass, and you ended up getting 4! The gift box was pretty tempting, but not for another $40. 3 people in our group of 5 ended up getting it, and one expressed interest in possibly selling me one of the snifters... so I'm pretty excited about that.

This was the highlight of my day, considering I got shutout on the GI variants completely. Only thing I was bummed about was not getting a gift box that included the snifters. They sold out not long before I made it to the front to grab my beers. A guy let me at least peek at his box to check out the snifters (they were pretty cool!!). Definitely gonna try and seek one out.

Got my allotment of bottles @Ri0 so you have one from last year and one from this year with your name on it next time I am in the Sun Prarie area. Now it's just a question of when I'll be that way next. Shared a bottle of last year's in line and IMHO, it is aging BEAUTIFULLY!

Got to try a sip of this year's Black Friday and was impressed. Lots of unique complex sweetness, just enough bourbon. Not a bad change up at all.

So, any word on this years beer floating in the rumor mill? Checking the website does not offer anything and shows last year's beer.

I was just thinking about this event and voila, the thread appeared on page 1. Never been before but thinking of checking it out this year. How does it usually work? Do you need to show up early?

You don't need to show up early, but you want to. Lots of good bottlesharing going on in line and then inside the brewery for those who stick around. They usually have the bottled beer on tap to try as well.

You'll definitely want to be in line before the doors open this year. Last year drew a pretty massive crowd. The line snaked all the way down the block and had to be close to 1000 people.

For reference, I got there at 6:30am last year and our spot in line was at the river front. So probably 200-300 people back.
Probably goes without saying, but dress warm. There's usually a pretty nasty cross wind down there in the valley. Last year it was snowing, so yeah wear some layers.

Per the FB, Stubby's is having a Black Friday Brunch and Bourbon County draft release at 10 am. Sounds like a nice way to warm up after the release.

I'll be there stupid early because it's what you're supposed to do on black Friday.

I think last year I was there around 3 or 4 am and was about 30-40 in line. Just in time to get my bottles and drive to Discount Liquor to get in another line for bourbon county stout.

It's the season for lines for beer. It's fun to see what different shops choose to do but nice to have Lakefront as an alternative to bombing around Chicagoland hunting BCBS.

BCBS allotments for MKE seem to be small again this year but you really won't know anything until the cases/kegs show up at your door.

Should be another BB Beer Line release around the corner too.

I'll have to make sure to crack open my cellared Black Friday and BBBL for the holidays.

From what I heard, beerline will not be brewed in 2016. I though lakefront mentioned that when they were down for a meeting. Also going to be doing a few beers in bombers aged in brandy barrels.

That's too bad- it makes an excellent candidate for vertical tastings!

Not as much of a brandy barrel fan, wouldn't mind seeing some tequila or mezcal BA beers though those are not regionally traditional... Here's to hoping that this years BA beer line lasts a while.

Really, no Beerline? First no CW Y2K and now this, what WI made BW (non-BA) am I supposed to buy?

Mentioned brandy barrel cherry lager, pumpkin, and holiday spice in the future. A my turn series beer coming out at some point will be the old black Friday (black ipa) also.

Looks like the site has been updated.

Changes appear to be a limit of 3 bottles per person, per trip through the line instead of 4 like last year.
1 Pint glass per 3 bottles purchased, instead of 1 for 1 like last year.

    Didn't see any pricing.

And hopefully it does not have coffee flavoring  (personal opinion can't stand coffee addition to stout)

Food tent outside starting at 6am! Excellent.

Also, it seems they got smart and are doing one pint glass with a 3 bottle purchase. Thank god. I walked out of there last year with 4 glasses that I didn't need.
