Wow. That was harsh. Spot on for the pricing (which is part of the reason I've only visited once), which is ridiculous. When we were there a few months ago, the beer ranged from fine to very good. Perhaps they're having consistency problems, because what the article describes wasn't my experience at all, but others have chimed in about brewing issues.

But comparing them to Nugmeg? That's hitting below the belt.

Haven't been to Nutmeg but from the sounds of that place seems off to compare the two that closely. The price is high (didn't realize it until he just listed it). I thought the stout they had was decent, tried the Braggot the other week and the review is spot on about that.

I went to Lakes and Legends for the first time this weekend, and can say that the Heavy Table article is spot on in its description of the Bitter Farmland IPA, and the Dark Hart. My friend was able to finish the IPA. I couldn't have. The Dark Hart I had was so lacking in flavor/aroma that I was able to power through it without discomfort, but without any enjoyment either.

I still haven't been to Nutmeg yet, so I don't know if things are better than they were, but I do know that the people they hired for their new brewing team really know their stuff.

Good to know, I thought it would take them longer to get their new team's brews on tap. Given that they made a radical change after their initial efforts fell short (a mild understatement), I'll give them a second look. I wouldn't have done that if they hadn't changed brewers.

Interesting. Maybe we caught them at a good moment in time, because this seems to be a common sentiment, & I'm pretty crabby about being served beer with obvious brewing flaws. I tasted none. But given the pricing, inconsistent reviews, & that it's a ways from my house, I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

What is their pricing like in liquor stores? They sell 750 mL format, right?

Wit & Saison are 4pks, St Gail & Marigold are 750's all around $9-10

Since we are pilling on all of the sudden. I had the Marigold, and thought it was just meh. That was about 6 weeks ago on-tap at New Bohemia. The price there did not seem out of whack compared to the other beer available.

Dang they must have really gone down south since I visited in March. I'll was thinking of going there after the Pride Dabbler but maybe go to Sisyphus instead
