Something honestly seems wrong with this beer. I'm convinced that there is diacetyl and/or acetaldehyde present. It's incredibly sweet with hints of tartness and has no balance whatsoever.

There is no hop aroma. Just a strange waft of sweetness and stale beer.

I very well may be a lone wolf here, but wanted to see if others have tried this and what their take is. Thanks!

I haven't had it but I had a couple people describe it to me as a malt bomb. Thats why I have been hesitant to buy one.

Well, you gotta pay the Troll Toll, if you wanna get...I forget the rest, but I bet that's your problem.

It's a DIPA. Certainly expect some extra malt/sweetness with this style, but not like this. It genuinely has a bizarre taste and aroma.

I swear I saw it was $12.99 as well right? I'm way out at that level.

99% of the DIPAs in this great state are malt bombs.

Found it for 20% off @ Central Market, so roughly $10 out the door after taxes. I've got another bottle of it that I'll try to return tomorrow.

    You can return beer?

I've never tried to return beer before, so I'm honestly not sure. It's an unopened bottle. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

I was once able to return an opened toothbrush to CM (it was left-handed... strange, I know), so if anyone will return it, it would be CM.

Just scanned through the reviews on another site and everyone talks about strong hop bitterness and mild malt. Ratings are high but that seems normal as people seem to rate beers higher at launch parties IMO. Maybe they had some quality problems in the bottles you have. But thanks for the warning, I will definitely refrain from bottle purchase until after I have tried a taster.

The hop bitterness is definitely accurate on the finish -- quite bitter and lingers on the palate. There's just a complete lack of hop flavor and aroma up front.

I opened up a can of Resin while I was drinking it to compare the two. I ended up using a some of the Troll Toll for a marinade and poured the rest :slight_frown:

I almost never drain pour but this was an exception. All I got was malt. Hops were almost nonexistent. Absolutely pissed I paid $14 and change for this one.

Finishing off a 32 oz. growler I purchased today at Lone Star Taps. It is malt forward no doubt. The hops are in the finish and there's some spiciness involved that you generally don't get with most American DIPAs. It reminds me of the Marshall This Machine IPA, which is a Belgian IPA, but with more alcohol. I didn't notice anything necessarily wrong or off about it, just not the typical DIPA we are accustomed to maybe.

I would also add that it is not a beer worth a premium price imo.

Sounds too much like Hop Trapp which I do not care for.
