Knowing that I like good craft, the wife got me a couple of these bad boys:

Truth is, I've never had a Lambic. How is this style best enjoyed? Paired with food? Session on its own as I watch the ball game? A 6 ounce one and done, then move onto something else? I'm also wondering if it will upset my stomach the way wild ales and Three Philosophers did. Might be the level of sourness, don't quite know.

    Any insight from experts? Thanks!!

If Three Philosophers didn't agree with you, then you won't be able to handle this one at all. Better send it to me.

This is a relatively sour lambic (you can see from just reading the reviews). If you don't like tart fruit tastes in beers, you might not like it. Still, open one, drink it alone, keep an open mind. You might end up enjoying it.

The De Cam has much more sour/funk/cherry than the 3 Philosophers. If you didn't like the sour/funky aspect of the 3 Phils than you might not appreciate the De Cam either. Soft stinky cheeses pair perfectly w/ cherry lambics and might help cut the acidity and save your stomach too.

Personally, I'd pair it with some nice chocolate cake, or something at least chocolate-y. I swear chocolate cake + Cantillon LP Kriek = black forest cake!

Mmmm. Yes, chocolate too. Again, this might also help save your stomach.

Sours are a bit rough to get into. If she got you a 375ml you should be fine. If she got you a 750ml it might be wise to find someone to share with so you dont waste it.

This should be sour, a little funky to you at 1st. Have some brownies or like tbadiuk said something chocolatey. Will help smooth out some notes of the beer.

    Cheers!

I find that if I'm hungry, a sour will bother my stomach. So I prefer sours after a meal, as opposed to before.

If I haven't eaten much and I'm going to drink something pretty sour I'll sometimes pop a Tums or two beforehand. Besides that, soft cheese like others have mentioned.

Had a 10 ounce poor about an hour ago. WOW!!! WAS THIS STUFF GOOD!! I don't think I can session this this type of brew, but I'll have to see where I can fit it into my beer day. Probably best to drink before my DIPA's.

Anything less fruity than this but just as tasty??

Just be sure to remind her that she was the one who introduced you to sours when she starts bitching about how much money you're spending on beer 3 months from now.

I usually go stouts/porters, then ipas, then sour/funky in my sessions.
