Not sure about tours but Spring House is there. You can hit up the tap room.

Troegs in Hershey. Book tours online or take the simpler self-guided tour whenever. Food is impressive. Fun place.

    Thanks, everyone.

All the recommendations look great. Spring House looks like its walking distance from where we are staying.

Woody: I really appreciate your offer, but my wife is not much of a beer person, so I'll be making "unplanned" beer stops here and there as she (and time) permit. It's been a several years since we visited Lancaster and she has a lot planned.

you can do the drive in an around Amish country and just happen to end up at Victory Parkesburg for lunch and a self guided tour.

Not sure that any of the breweries in Lancaster do "official tours". you could probably get a tour at Lancaster Brewing, Wacker, or Spring House's production facility by asking if they aren't too busy.

Does your wife like other forms of alcohol? There's a wine tasting shop in the same building as Spring House's tap room. My mom (who doesnt drink beer) will sometime wander off to there when my dad and I are having a pint or two. Also there is a distillery in the same building as Wacker, think they have figured out a way to serve both adjacent to one another and share seating. and on the east end of the county there is wine tasting and rumspringa in the same building (can visit on your way back from Parkesburg).

I assume from your post that you are staying at the Marriott / convention center. if so be sure to check out central market. annie baileys has a nice deck and adult popsicles (if thats your or your wifes thing on a hot summer day).

Spring House will be your best bet for downtown breweries, its worth the walk to try out the Hazel Street location. Wacker Brewing is a smaller brewery downtown, decent beers and right next to a distillery. Federal Taphouse is a couple of blocks from Marriot, good food and about 100 craft taps. Iron Hill Brewery is a short 2 or 3 minute drive from downtown with great food and solid beers. Also, if you have time, check out The Fridge and Hunger and Thirst, both have good food, great tap lists and good bottle shops if you want to take anything back with you. Lancaster Brewing Company is one of the oldest places in town, its on the far East end of town, solid beers, good food, nothing spectacular though. HTH, cheers!

Instead of repeating all the good suggestions, I just want to add my personal opinion of about a part of @BradC's post. Not a brewery, but I think that Hunger-N-Thirst probably has the best food + beer menu combination in the area. In addition, there is a nice cheese shop and bottle shop located inside, too.

Thanks for all the info. Normally, when I go up there it is an in and out trip to get bottles. Next time, I'll hit up a bunch of these.

if youre looking for an interesting experience, you gotta hit up bubes brewery in mount joy. its about 10-15 minutes from downtown lancaster. they dont have tours or anything, but they let me and a couple other walk around and check the place out. really interesting place.
