Anybody got any idea how this will be? It's in REO Town on June 29th. Dark Horse, Shorts, Right Brain, Brewery Vivant and some others will be there. I'm hoping someone might have some of their non-regular beers available. Probably wishful thinking though, it is Lansing after all. I read it's the second annual Lansing Beer Fest, anyone go last year?
Well, even though I have a special space in my heart for virtually all Short's brews, Beard of Zeus is slated to be pouring at some point. One of my personal favorites.
I'm looking forward to giving Beard of Zeus another try. Had it out of a bottle at a friend's place and I was not a fan. Said friend does not handle his beer properly though, so I'm banking on it being better on Saturday.
Well, it's definitely not a beer for everyone. IPL's are pretty new to the craft beer world and ours is pretty extreme, to say the least. Those Zeus hops dominate the brew while the bitter orange peel adds a complimentary citrus/resiny flavor. I love it and it ranks among my favorite Short's brews of all time. Looking forward to hearing what you think.
All in all that was a pretty fun time. Didn't think 15 drink tickets would be enough but I ended up giving 3 away before we left. Tasted Beard of Zeus fresh and enjoyed it much more than the first time I had it. There's something about those Zeus hops that I'm not quite sure about though. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, am I nuts for thinking I taste ash tray?... although not in a bad way.
Probably not the best descriptor but I can't think of any other way of saying it. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
