Heading up to Lansing today. Any new releases this week I should be on the lookout for. I know it hit distro a few weeks ago and was limited but any chance of locating Batch 5000?

I think 5000 is long gone.

Horrock's may still have a good supply of things newly distributed this week. Past that, your best bet might be Oade's Big10 or Okemos Big10 (which get shipments in today). Peachy Pom-Pom, Beerjito, Queen of Tarts, King of Tarts are some newer things I've seen around this week that'll be out of your local distribution footprint.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. Stopped by Vine & Brew for bottles. Great prices in singles. Super helpful and gave great local recommendations. LBC for lunch. Club was awesome as was the Red IPA. Midtown is on deck...

Not too late to get to Horrock's. They are having a Griffin Claw Brewing and Great Lakes Brewing tap takeover tonight. They will probably still have those beers on tap tomorrow as well. Griffin Claw has excellent bourbon barrel aged stouts. Their facebook page photo shows taps of their Flying Buffalo Imperial Stout and Flying Buffalo Coffee Imperial Stout.

So, thanks for the recommendations all! I did end up making quite a few stops on my 3 day / 2 night trip through area.

Horrock's - Made a bee line for this place right off the plane. I was a bit rushed and the layout, being from out of town was a bit overwhelming. I actually did not buy bottles because no one was around when I walked through and I was not going in search of anyone. Did definitely look like a great selection.

Vine & Brew - Got my bottles here. Great staff who made really solid recommendations and really nice prices. I picked up a mix 6 to get me through a couple nights in the hotel. (Odd Ales - Mayan Mocha Stout, Rochester Mills - Milkshake Stout, Blackrocks - 51K IPA, Jolly Pumpkin - Oro de Calabaza, Short's - Superfluid, Arcadia - Hopmouth DIPA)

Beer Grotto - Had a couple drinks here before heading to dinner at Tavern & Tap

Tavern & Tap - Good food. solid beer selection

Lansing Brewing Co - Actually had lunch here the day I arrived as well as dinner the following night. Really good food and the beers were solid. Really enjoyed Dumbass Rick's India Red and Angry Mayor

Midtown Brewing - Was not impressed with their beer

Ellison Brewery & Spirits - Just had time for 1 beer (Crescent Fresh) but a cool spot. If I had not used GoogleMaps satellite view I would probably have never found it. I prefer the more raw spaces as opposed to polished buildings so this was right up my alley. I went during the MSU game so it was a lot of people but service was fast & easy.

EagleMonk - Was not expecting it to be such a hole in the wall place but their beers were all pretty solid. The 2 older guys running it were very nice. I did the flight of 8 to get a good feel for them. Really impressed with the BA Delta Porter

I was going to Crunchy's on Sat but found out it was the final MSU home game so figured that would be a mad house and did not want to deal with a likely packed place.

Going to be in Lansing over the weekend for Mother's Day, any recommendations on bottles to be on the look out for?

Founder's Palm Reader is a Michigan only release that is out. Sumatra Mountain Brown is out too, but that has a wider distro. Bell's Hopsolution is due out in May. Oddside's Ale's only distributes in Michigan and Illinois. Short's it just starting to distribute outside of Michigan.

No need for "fancy" any good year round beers would be just fine. We get a very solid distribution of Bell's and Founders in Iowa (including the Sumatra Brown which really surprised me with how creamy it was for a brown), but no Shorts as of yet. Will keep an eye out for Oddside's as well.

I'll second, third, fourth and fifth Crunchy's. Just a college bar, but they do a nice job. Just went to LBC for the first time and I really enjoyed the space and atmosphere. Food was great beer was fine, but nothing to write home about yet. Had to get me some Lansing swag, though. Horrocks is A game material. Head straight to the back of the store for a pint, then shop for eclectic Mid Michigan delicacies, such as smoked fish and cheeses, pickled bologna and potatoes of varying colors and shapes.

Horrock's will also chill a bottle for you to enjoy while you shop. If Dark Horse does not distribute to Iowa, you will want to check out their offerings as well.

Ha, at any grocery store, i like to shop for beer or wine first, and if it's not cold, just slip it into a freezer case, do my shopping, and come back and get it. Just remember to come back and get it...
