Large bottles/ Growlers

    About a month ago I bottled my first batch of homebrew. I was excited to use some large swing-top growlers and a unique gose bottle (pictured) for my very own beer, instead of letting them sit on shelves.

    A few days ago it finally occurred to me that there might be some issues with this, i.e., the difficulty of decanting.

    Yesterday I finally drank from one of these (the gose bottle) and indeed, I managed to get one reasonably clear glass from it (which I gave to my wife) and another glass which was basically a murktacular sediment bomb. I drank that and enjoyed it, but would like to avoid that issue in the future. With the other two bottles in question being wide-mouth growlers, I don't think the issue will be quite so bad, but I'm sure there will still be a lot of difficulty in saving the sediment for dead last.

    So that's my story, and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to use bottles like this effectively within the realm of homebrewing.

    Not turning the bottle back upright between pours would help a bit. The other option would be to throw the bottle in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes between pours to let the sediment settle back down.
