I just came across this article today and was wondering if anyone had an interesting or effective hangover cure/remedy.

I usually just drink water, Gatorade or Powerade before I go to sleep and then drink the same in the morning, along with some Tylenol...a nice greasy breakfast helps too.

Take advil or another type ibuprofen, tylenol and alcohol are a bad combo...

Good point, acetaminophen does not mix well with alcohol. I have been overlooking that.

Need to be careful with the other NSAIDs as well, everyone I know of has some negative interaction with alcohol. There is a lot of positive research on Milk Thistle but not sure about the rest of his cure

Powerade/Gatorade before drinking any alcohol, then at least a bottle of water with a multi vitamin before bed. It's all about the preemptive cure for me, as nothing I do the next day besides sleeping does much.

Cannot overstate the importance of lots of water during your drinking session.

I encourage others not to drink Gatorade or what not. Too much high fructose corn syrup and since your having beer your insulin will spike. Also taking b-6 and b-12 can help your recover in no time. But mostly water is key to hydrate.

Don't drink that last beer. Drink a liter of mineral water before going to bed.

I agree with above, if your going to drink gatorade do it after. I recommend water as much as possible (before/during/after), gatorade in the morning especially if de-hydrated will help though. I'd recommend eating post drinking before bed. Caffeine helps a lot with morning headaches. Bananas, bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Since I NEVER will be like you pro's in the drinking, heheh, I believe how I take care of my hangover if I go overboard myself, will work for me. If your taking massive amounts of beer in a short time, you might have a hard time recovering.

Also if I may take the time to share that when I first started drinking craft beer, I did not drink as much water, and thus what a coincidence, I ended up with a kidney stone. I learned my lesson from this point. I know there is many of us who are of different backgrounds and ideologies( you know me, an old school Italian metalhead health nut!:grinning:), but I can not do stress enough in taking care of yourself. I use this daily:

Because hey, the more we take care of ourselves, the more we can enjoy the beauty of craft beer!

I will drink to that this eve! SALUTE,AMICI!

I usually just drink a glass of water after each beer. A hangover is, for the most part, a product of dehydration, so that's really all you need. If I don't keep up a good ratio of water to beer, I'll usually take an aspirin in the morning and sleep another hour.

I need it this morning.. Everything was flowing so good last night, decompress from a hellacious week at work.

I generally, if I'm "there still", will drink a big glass of water and an excedrin migraine before bed. Yeah, I know, not good, but I never feel bad in the morning if I do that.

Didn't do anything last night, and woke up at 4AM about to throw up on my wife... Death this morning.

So... bad to pills and water before bed.

I just drink a lot of water between and after beer and I rarely get a hangover. Vitamin supplements should help as well. I wouldn't take any pain medication while still intoxicated.

And that concoction Larry Bell recommends sounds worse than the hangover itself.:grimacing:

I just actually read it, and yea, that sounds awful gross. I'll just stick to staying hydrated: so much easier and palatable.

If you weren't already throwing up from the hangover, you'll be throwing up from the "
sauerkraut juice over ice with hot sauce, worcestershire sauce, and celery seed."

Morning sex and/or McDonald's breakfast = 2 greatest hangover cures.

That drink sounds atrocious. On another note, even when I drink a ton of water, take a B vitamin, and eat a meal while I'm drinking I tend to get enormously horrid hangovers. I'll have to try the milk thistle and vitamin D though.

As with all health related issues, seek professional medical advice. BA is not the place for this.
