I will have a few hours to kill between check out and flight departure on am upcoming Vegas trip. Can anyone recommend a spot to eat (bar type food) and a place to spend 2/3 hours with a glass of something crafty in my hand. Searched threads but only found info on strip and out lying area not airport info.
    Thanks

Have not been through LAS in a year so maybe things have improved. Best choice I have found is a Goose Island IPA at the Budweiser lounge.

I typically go to Aces and Ales (food and beer 24/7 at the Nellis location for sure, beer 24/7 at the original for sure. food maybe?) then the airport.

Tacos and Beer is off strip and near airport.

I was just in the airport Sunday and the only beer you can get in the airport (at least Terminal A+B) is Stella or Sam Adams. They had mixed drinks available. Vegas as a whole is a terrible beer scene. I did pay $14 for Grapefruit Sculpin at Todd English's The Pub restaurant (nothing decent was under $12).

Awful beer scene. Sorry I know people name a bottle shop of bar or two, but not good sadly :-(

Thanks for the help guys. It sounds like if I want anything better than piss in a can I'll be searching and paying out the ass for it. Guess I'll be drinking some liquor that week lol.

Nearby Airport (as in <5 min away by vehicle): The Office Bar, Tacos & Beer - both have steady beer lists & good grub.

Terminal 1 - CGates (I think only Southwest Airlines): Local Joseph James Citra Rye on draft at Lucky Streak Lounge, next to C25'ish

Goose IPA or an occasional SNPA bottle is as good as it gets from there throughout both terminals - I don't know if that Golden Road Airport Only beer ever made it into McCarran (or if it's any good) but I deviate to liquor in that airport.

the last time i was in the vegas airport the bar i was in had 3 sam adams taps - boston lager, oktoberfest, and seasonal. the bartender insisted that the oktoberfest and the seasonal were two different beers. "no, they're not the same. see, this one is called seasonal and this one is the oktoberfest." he insisted that seasonal was the name of the beer and that they have it all the time. i gave up and had an oktoberfest.

This trip seems to get scarier the more responses and research I do

As airports go, LAS is not particularly good but not the worst around. I have been stuck at many airports where I'd have been thrilled to see a Sam Adams or a Goose Island anything.

As towns I have visited go, Vegas is not San Diego or Portland or {your favorite beer town} but good beer is not terribly hard to find. I mean, it's not cheap on the Strip but what is? (Though Todd English PUB has (had?) a half price Happy Hour that gets beer to a less lofty $6-$7). Two Yardhouse locations on the strip (always solid stops for a traveler new to the beer scene in any town), good craft selections to go at the Walgreens middle of the strip or Whole Foods at the south end.

With a cab or rental car, there are many fine selections farther afield. Which, combined with a trip to an In-N-Out Burger makes me a reasonably happy tourist.

I'm lucky to live in Philly where the beer scene is outstanding but I do not mind going to Vegas for business at all.
