I was informed a few days ago, I might be moving to Las Vegas, Nevada and leaving my beloved San Diego. I've been a California native all my life but move is a family affair, and I enjoy my time there when I have visited. In any case, the one of my first thoughts was, "Is there a craft beer scene there?" Beer bars, bottle stores, etc. I never took San Diego for granted in that regard, and still have to make the occasional trip here for work meetings, but have not a single clue about Las Vegas on the craft beer map.
Of course, all feedback is appreciated and will ease my mind of not relying solely on buying beer through the mail haha!

Things are getting better, but I am sure that you will still feel that we are the little brother of California distribution.

That being said, there is a robust community with special tappings and bottle releases. There are quite a few public bottle shares whether it be Khoury's every Wednesday or Atomic Liquors 2nd Saturday. You will see most of the brewery only releases from California being opened there as many people travel for their beer.

    You'll be fine

Thanks! I couldn't imagine a place like LV not having some craft beer events and businesses.

Aces and ales has a great tap selection (both locations). There a few breweries that I frequent that are within walking distance to each other called crafthaus and bad beat brewing, both make pretty solid stuff. I also enjoy hop nuts brewing from time to time

Ya the distro kinda sucks, but it's not the worst. Khourys is the best. Total Wine has huge selection but most ipas are out dated.

I would say overall not a great scene, but decent, and getting better every year

    Cheers and welcome to Nevada!

Thank you! I didn't mean to panic haha, but I do support local and was just hoping there was local to support! Khoury's sounds like my first stop.

Also depends on what side of town you live on, if you end up SW you can hit top shelf. If you are more strip downtown Whitecross Market. If you end up Henderson SE then Khourys. A new shop popped up in NLV area called Liquor Lineup thats pretty solid as well.

Fair thoughts on the geographics, but as far as service goes can either of the other two compete with Khoury's?

I get that if you know your beer, have a grasp on distribution schedules, and are local any of those spots would be serviceable. Someone getting in to craft needs to start at Khoury's to be hand walked through the store and offered appropriate selections.

Just my .02(which I guess could buy a couple of beers according to instagram)

I definitely have to agree with the geographics of where he ends up. Though I haven't checked out Liquor Lineup, the rest of the recommendations are spot on. I live on the NW side and work in Summerlin, so depending on where I am, Total Wine and Top Shelf serve me just fine. Khoury's has been nice when I've gone but nothing worth the extra long drive. If you're looking for a nice bottle shop where you can go chat beer with people and get good stuff Khoury's is the place. If you just wNt to find the good stuff, the others suffice.
