Hey guys, I'm going to Vegas for a few days and didn't want to miss out on any great under the radar breweries or bottle shops. I'm not seeing anything very exciting so far after doing my own research except for Tenaya creek and Banger brewing up in the Fremont st. area. Anybody have suggestions? Thanks!
There are other breweries, but most aren't super close to the Strip or downtown. Sin City has tasting rooms all over the Strip. Their beers are unimaginative, but certainly a step up from light macros. Triple 7 is downtown and not too far off from Banger. It's like walking into a beer time machine set to 2002, but the beers are good. Hop Nuts is between the Strip and downtown, a mile or so north of the Stratosphere. Never been, so I can't comment. Joseph James, Crafthaus, and Bad Beat are in Henderson. You'll see JJ and Crafthaus cans/kegs all over town. Freshness is spotty at some of those divey little shops, but the taps tend to be fresh. JJ Citra Rye and Crafthaus Saison are pretty damned good, IMO. I had some disasters from Bad Beat a few years ago, but people have said they got much better. Big Dogs is way north, but I've seen bottles from them on the Strip. They were good, but I have no idea how common they are. On my last visit I didn't see any.
Bottle shops: Khourys Top Shelf Whole Foods on the strip Total Wine on the strip Beer Bars Atomic Tacos & Beer 595 Craft Pub 365 Breweries: Tenya Creek Banger Hop Nuts all near downtown Bad Beat Craft Haus Henderson Those would be my suggestions, Cheers!
I'd add Ellis island. Definitely not for the brews (drinkable but that's it) but for great and cheap bbq.
Thx @Schmittymack. BBQ sounds good for tomorrow. Heading to California Casino n Hotel for prime rib in a few. Will also stop in Bangers Brewery. Last time I was there was 3 years ago? Wasn't too bad then. How's Hop Nuts? Worth a stop?
Thought Hop Nuts was interesting; nothing outstanding but nothing bad, either. Worth a stop since it's close to Fremont stuff and if you've never been there.
Gordon Biersch has a nice patio area and it's a nice change in atmosphere if you like German style beers. HofbrÀuhaus was surprisingly authentic as well (I've been to the real one, and was expecting more of a fake tourist experience).
I was just at Hofbrauhaus last Sunday, and the beer was delicious as ever... as was the food. Man, I love that place.
My last night in vegas. I got to try a pint of LoveLady's OverBock at a local Mexican restaurant. I was impressed. What's up vegas beer lovers. . . .no love for LoveLady? How are their other offerings? Worth bringing home some 6er's?
The American Hofbrauhaus locations should all be pretty legit. They're built to the specs issued by the Bavarian government and the beers are directly imported to be 30-day fresh. Even the real Hofbrauhaus is somewhat touristy, so that comes with the territory. If you aren't heading to Bavaria, it's probably as close as you'll get.
