Where else? Well, if you go north from Las Vegas, there's about 100,000 square miles of area you can do that in. Plus, you can do it with Cantillon, Drie Fontenein, Hannsens, Tilquin, THE FREMONT CANNON etc. . .

Granted, we don't have many "streets" up here, but dirt roads are a lot more fun!

Rivalries and joking aside, you make several good points in support of your valid thesis.

I'm definitely hitting up the Big Dogs Peace & Hoppiness shindig when I'm down there next week.

What is this MCTG3 you speak of?

We do get Cantillon, drie fontienen, tilquin and hanssens here in vegas but the MCGT3 has a stronghold and allocation from Cepage concerning all spontaneous fermented beverages.

MCGT3 is also rumored to have the largest collection of Hill Farmstead west of the Mississippi.

"What is this MCTG3 you speak of?"

Answer: The most exclusive Club in Vegas...even as a seasoned Beer Advocate who's been in Vegas since 1970, even I know very little of them. Mostly rumors of when/where they congregate, but never seen or confirmed...secret handshakes that require double-jointedness...Hell, you could be talking to one at a local bar and you wouldn't even know it. More mysterious than Keyser Soze...

If you've ever attended the Wednesday night gatherings you've come across individuals who are part of this thing you call 'the most exclusive Club in Vegas'.

Re: MCTG3: That's cute. Seems like all the rage in beer these days is limited, exclusive stuff, so it makes sense to have the equivalent in LV I guess given the trend.

Its like skull & bones, fight club, disney 33, etc. . .or even FUCT here on beeradvocate from awhile back.

I really liked the Stonecutters episode on the Simpsons.

"Let's all get drunk and play ping pong!"

Having a great beeradvocate up here from the HFS area means we get to drink a good amount of it relatively speaking.

For the record keyser soze has been ticked by a member of MCGT3.

I for one would like to assume MCGT3 are more like the Knights Templar. Being in the desert and all.

Edit: we can't be the templar we have a Jew amongst us!

Ooh...I don't know about that...I get nervous around people, and sometimes throw up in my mouth a little in crowds. I'll think about it tonight while playing solitaire.

I dont think we have anything to invite anyone too yet. =(

Sounds like there isn't one universal date that works for everyone. If someone can host, I would just say pick whatever day works best for you and we'll see how many people can make it.

I'll bring a beatification if anyone wants to do this (and its permissible per Big Dogs) at Big Dog's peace & hoppiness?

I plan on stopping by Khourys, Aces & Ales & Big Dogs while I'm in town, at a minimum.

Not that Vegas doesn't have its spots, but I don't think the beer scene was for those people spending the casual long weekend on the strip without a car. Several of us have been to Vegas in the past year, and these were are concerns:

    1) Beers cost way too much on the strip. $9 for a pint of racer 5 is about double what I expect to pay anywhere else. Bottles in bars are about triple the price too. Can't speak to other places off the strip tho. Portland, Sacramento, SF have happy hour and beer specials even on the weekend.

    2) Most people who travel to Vegas don't have a car. I would have loved to get out to Aces & Ales, but it was at least an hour of buses and walking from the strip and a cab ride was about $35-45 at the time each way (several months ago). Light rail and buses make travel fairly easy in Portland and SF. Denver too.

While I agree that Vegas probably does have some great festivities for those that live there off the strip, it was not intended as a beer destination for those staying on the strip without a car.

I totally agree with most of what you said. No one ever compared Las Vegas to any of the beer destination cities you mentioned. The Strip is what it is a tourist trap and a successful one at that.

The strip will never be a beer destination and if the reason people come to vegas is for craft beer then some people have their travel priorities a bit out of wack.

    Now back to the tasting.....

5 de mayo bottle share? I would be willing to host. Maybe 4:00/5:00 to include a little BBQ action.

    I am in So Highlands.
