So I got my hands on a bottle of this beer "last and final judgment" from mystic brewery in Chelsea mass last night. I've never heard of this brewery or this beer for that matter. Its a quad so I would like to put it in my cellar to age but I know nothing about this beer and I cant find a vintage date on the bottle and the only two vintages of this beer that can be found seem to be 2014 and 2016 and people talk about the vintage stamp on the 2014 bottles. All i can find on the bottle is this : Which i assume is a bottle number because it seems to be a limited batch beer. Can anyone familiar with this beer and brewery give me any information about this beer and what year I might have gotten my hands on. Or how good it is now or aged Anything really I guess. Thanks in advance
I'd try contacting the brewery. Generally speaking, everything Mystic bottles is quite durable. I wouldn't hesitate to throw that one in the cellar at all, even given the ambiguous bottling date. Edit: Actually, I'm pretty sure that if that were a 2014 bottle, it would have the old label on it: So it is probably a recent bottling.
If you've never had it before, I'd suggest drinking it now. IMO, aging a beer only makes sense once you know how a beer tastes fresh and you want to alter its character for any number of reasons...either for comparison sake, or to tame a beer that's drinking too hot right now, etc. Looking at reviews for the 2016 vintage, they're mixed but nobody claims it needs aging.
