Last Imperial Stout Trooper in CT??

    Was at CT Bev Mart in New Britain near Westfarms today browsing the selection, and ran across a bottle of IST. Under it there was a sticker that said *LAST BOTTLE IN CT* and was a whopping $25! I kind of just laughed and thought "man, and someone will probably pay that too." What a joke. I would really like to try it, but there's no way I'm going for that price gouge, even if it is the last bottle. I ended up picking up a 4 pk of 668 a few shelves below it for $11.99 and dadgummits I'm glad I did! What an all around great brew!

    I did stop by Dotcom's new place next to Marshall's in Bishop's Corner on the way home too. Lovin' their new digs, all the best to those guys! Picked up a bottle of Sorachi Ace from them for $8.99. Heck of a deal (CT Bev was charging $12.99)!

    Yeah, i had the same reaction when I saw that about a month ago. Hard to beleive it is still sitting there are such an affordable price.

    Yeah....that's definitely not the last bottle of IST on the shelf in CT. Not even close. Maybe the last bottle at that type of mark-up...but certainly not the very last bottle.

    I bought a bottle a while ago when I was out in CT, and honestly i didnt care for it all that much... Im glad i didnt pay THAT much for it!

    Jesus,these stories really irk me.Although most stores are long out of IST,its def. not the last bottle on the shelf in CT. I have seen it on the shelves at two stores lately and as recently as saturday.($15.99)Price gougers really suck and the fine gents @ NEBCo. frown on these types of mark ups big-time.I add CT. BEV. MART to the list along w/ SOUTHINGTON WINE and SPIRITS as stores that I wish people would NOT support. :angry:

    Saw it at a few stores recently for $17 and thought that was a rip-off. Man, $25???

    I've seen it still on the shelves at numerous stores in MA. I am sure it is still in multiple stores in CT.

    I saw some bottles at Wines and Liquors Warehouse in Southbury , in the plaza with the Starbucks off exit 14 rt 84.
    15.99. And lots of Gandhi Bot !

    I would have had to ask the store manager or owner how they know it is the last bottle, that's pretty funny, but more so sad and pathetic.

    Going up to Boston this weekend, can anyone comment on stores that still have IST in Boston or reasonably close to Boston?

    Thanks for the tip, I've been wanting to try both IST and GBot. Picked up some of each this morning from them! They have some great prices. I won't be shopping at any of the CT Bev Marts anymore.

    Federal Wine & Spirits had ~5 bottles in stock as of last week, though it seemed as though they had just been put out on the shelf, rather than having been passed over.

    To be fair, i think the sign said last IST in central CT. Now that price seems more reasonable, doesn't it....

    To play devil's advocate: I was traveling to Hartford for work all winter/spring, I routinely patronized the usual stores, and I only ever saw IST there, at that price, a couple weeks ago. That said it's hilarious that it's stuck around, although I'm sure somebody will eventually pay $25 for it.

    Also, that CT Beverage Mart (or was it the Newington one? I forget) had Cantillon classic/Iris on the shelves at the old price point well into last summer, long after it was gone everywhere else in CT/western MA. I highly doubt they're run by nefarious price-gouging geniuses, y'know?
