    Hey guys,

Steve from Arizona here: I'll be coming into St. Louis tomorrow for a week on buisness and I'd love to check out the heavy hitters (Perennial, Side Project, etc) I'm a huge funky sour barrel aged guy: Any other reccomendations would be great.

I also would love to meet up with some people for a share (and/or) in person trade: I worked for Arizona Wilderness and Ballast Point before that and I have some good SoCal Russian River DeGarde and other goodies I'd love to enjoy with some new faces: I still have a 2013 Duck Duck Gooze I am looking to unload as well.

Let me know some cool spots and if anyone is game to get together.

    Cheers !!

    Steve

Try these groups on Facebook. Not a whole lot of StL action here on BA.

2nd Shift...call them and get the hours. The new location is up and running, stopped there yesterday and the place was packed. They have what your looking for.

My favorites, in no order, Earthbound, Civil Life, Modern and Schlafly. Check the hours...some pretty restictive!

Take the 20 minute drive north to Narrow Gauge.

Narrow Gauge has the best hops in STL and the food there is awesome. Get some crowlers to take home.

I have to agree with the advice about Narrow Gauge. I had never heard of them but made it there last night. The beer is sold at Cugino's Italian Bar & Grill. Only place right now you can get it. You'll notice that you won't find "Place" reviews for NG on this website. Cugino's does have "Place" reviews. I don't know where the beer is actually brewed. I assume Cugino's and NG are owned by the same folks, I don't know.

Anyway, food was great (me burger wife pizza). The menu has a variety much of it not Italian. The beer was great also...had Fallen Flag, OJ and Hoppy Meal. All were wonderful American IPAs more or less. Be warned that they have a wonderful selection of local and not so local beer on tap. Almost too much wonderful stuff in one place.

***I hope the OP reports back on his trip to St. Louis!

I'll be in St. Louis 12/29 - 12/30 and hitting the usual suspects. Thanks for the heads-up on Narrow Gauge. Am I understanding this correctly and that they aren't serving their beer at the brewery yet or just that outside the brewery, they can only be enjoyed at the restaurant nearby?

Narrow Gauge beers are only available at Cuginos. They have a rotating tap list. They usually have crowlers available of all or some of the currently tapped brews. Can't miss awesome place.

Narrow Gauge is Cugino's, when you go in the door the left is Cugino's, the right is Narrow Gauge. The left side is more restaurant, the right is more bar/brewery.

Yea the guy who owns Cuginos is family with the guy who started Narrow Gauge. They brew out of the basement of Cuginos and the beer is sold from the bar in Cuginos. Its a cool little place and the beer is top notch. Can't go wrong stopping in there.

Just by looking at the websites of both, I get the feeling they are legally trying to keep the two businesses separate. Are you sure they brew out of the basement at Cuginos? The pics on the NG website don't look like a basement.

Don't matter anyway...like you said, cool & tasty! In fact, I just did the pop-a-top on a crowler of OJ. I knew it wouldn't last long in the fridge.

They recently got a new/bigger brewing set-up so I'd guess the picture is from that. When I talked to one of the guys from Narrow Gauge, he said they were brewing in the basement - but this conversation also was several months ago.

I can clear this up. I am Jeff Hardesty the brewer/cellar man and one of the owners of Narrow Gauge. We do brew out of the basement and just added more fermenters. My two business partners are part owners of Cugino's as well. Essentially I double brew 6 bbl batches. We converted an old banquet space into the brewery. Let me know if you guys have any other questions.
