I've noticed in some of my conversations that someone will respond to me but the "last read date" for them is still like 5 days ago even though they responded more recently.

I'll look into it, but I believe it's working as designed. It doesn't update every time they open the conversation thread, but rather updates the last time they read a new conversation within the thread.

Yeah, in one of my conversations, I have replied multiple times in the past 5 days and so has he, but the last read date is still 4 days ago for him.

I actually had the same thing happen to me last week and wondered about it.

For the past couple weeks, when having private conversations, with a couple different users, I have noticed that the last read date doesn't update. It will show the original time, but never updates to when they've read last. They have replied, and confirmed that they have seen my messages, but the last read date still never updates. Is there a bug right now?

I have seen this happen too. Maybe it occurs when using the app?

This could very well be possible. I'll discuss with @Mike.

If someone responds in a convo and the timestamp stays the same, they are on mobile.

This (potential) issue relates to the small "Conversation Participants" callout that sits in the right sidebar on an individual conversation page. It lists each of the conversation participants with their last read date/time.

Over the last couple months, I've been in a couple different conversations where the date/time of the other participant doesn't seem to be accurate. For example, it will show that the last time they read the conversation was Tuesday, but when you look through the actual conversation itself, they have replies on Wednesday, Thursday, etc... This isn't a huge issue, but it does make it impossible to tell if someone has read your response until they actually post a reply to it. And it doesn't happen consistently--I've only seen it twice. I don't know what makes those conversations different than others.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. I just thought it was strange that their participation timing isn't updating when they come to view and post a new response in the conversation thread.

@LambicPentameter: I've merged your thread into the existing one. It appears that this is being caused when users reply via the app.
