Good God, please fellow BAs. Can we keep Hoppy beers out of the equasion?? If not, oh well...Stone did just come out with their 16th Anniversary.

Was it the Ancho Chilis, Pasilla Chilis and Cinnamon that threw the Hunahpu's over the top for you?

Or the recent Daglet dates and Mission figs that separated Black Butte XXIV from the rest of the Black Butte Reserve Vintages?

For me, my inspiration for this thread is Hair of the Dog's ADAM. I've been overlooking this beer on shelves for quite some time now. Finally decided to pull the trigger.

I, 99.9% of the time am not a fan of smoke in beer, but with ADAM it was a almost like a fine cigar complimenting the dark fruits, and not at all overpowering.

I bought 4 more afterwards to age, and see what happens over time. For the record, the ADAM I had in question was the most recent batch on shelves, about 6-7 months old.

    CHEERS!

    Collage.

I've had two since the release, maybe 4 months apart and this beer has so much going on. I really dig it, and can't wait to try again every 6 months or so.

I had passed on LoneRider Peacemaker Pale Ale because I havent had a good hop forward NC beer yet (well besides Foothills Jade, Natty Greene's Freedom IPA, and Olde Hickory Death by Hops), but I grabbed a bottle of Peacemaker. Holy shit. Nice hop presence, yet still drinkable. I recommend this. oh yes. So I guess Jade fits, but its not as fun.

The biggest one I can think of was I walked into a bar and ordered this thing called Nugget Nectar. Then I ordered Siberian Night. Best freaking night ever.

Last unique beer to blow my mind was Tequesta Brewing and Funky Buddha collaboration. Brown Barleywine. My new favorite Barleywine by far. They are aging some in Lairds Apple Brandy Barrels as we speak! (The same type of Barrels Cigar City used for Apple Brandy Hunahpu) I might just implode into myself when I drink it!

Cascade sang noir, though I'm not sure if it qualifies as "unique"

From my recent reviews I'd say Cascade Sang Noir and Squatters Radio From Hell. The former is a most excellent sour, the latter a wonderful Malt bomb.

Oh the tasting I had the other night we had Tart of Darknees. I had pretty high expectations for this brew. It exceeded them!

I guess I will continue the "hype".

Cherry Bomb- Sour Dopplebock aged with cocoa nibs and Serrano peppers.

Umae Umami- Sour Wheatwine Aged on Stanley Plums.

The Livery Anniversary party was a hell of a time. The beer they put in barrels is unlike what I have seen from anyone and I love it.

Freigeist Abraxxxas--picked it up on a rec from the salesman, who basically forced me to buy it. Smoky, tart, malty, and really just a strong beer, especially since I thought I'd hate it.

Well if im shooting for unique off the wall stuff (as the OP intended), I would have to go with Fullsteam Wanderlust. A beer with Cheerwine syrup (a cherry soda native to NC)?! a nice super tart cherry heavy Flanders Red.

can't remember the name now, but it was a saison with brett aged in a chardonnay barrel from Black Raven in WA.

had a pretty ridiculous gose with brett and blackberries from a homebrewer the same weekend.

Didn't really blow my mind per say, but I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers.

Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura. Was just picking randomly off a taplist and happened to finger this. I had no idea there was such a beer! A sour stout. It blew me away. I plan on picking up some Bruery Tart of Darkness thinking it will be similar.

I cracked my bottle of Green Flash Silva Stout on New Years Day.. it's almost September and I still haven't had anything this year that I've enjoyed more..

I'll also throw in Columbus Summer Teeth.. it's such an amazing lager..

I'm really surprised by some of the beers mentioned. I'll echo Tart of Darkness though.
