If only you knew about the rat problems...

Love the city, but every time I am there eating I have visions of kitchen nightmares. I used to play the who can find a rat first game when waiting for subways, after 30 seconds it was usually over. My last apt on the upper east also had a MAJOR problem. I caught about 10 in a yr and a half and every nit you could hear them running around. Boy do I have stories. The burbs is the best. Lost of space, grill on the deck, and room for my little girl to crawl around and play...plus the schools are killer. Nowhere in the world like that city, but much like college been there dne that and couldn't go back to do it again. Different phases of life (for me).

That being said, wrapping up my beer formerly known as abacus, and readying for a can of torpedo as. A night cap...or perhaps beer before my night cap?

Homebrew tonight, Chocolate Coffee Oatmeal Stout:

and the final 90 minute of the 4 pack I grabbed today. 90 Min is sooo much more hop forward fresh. delicious.

 

Having a homebrew, recipe designed by my hb partner Paul, brewed by us, which we named Blind Zombie. It's a combination recipe of Zombie Dust and Blind Pig, with a half pound roasted barley added, and a couple extra ounces of Amarillo added to the Citra dry hop. Mmmmm!

 

I hear you on the rats if you are exposed to that. Thankfully, it's been 10 years since subways and apts. with rat possibilities. And I have a grill on the deck too (awesome!). Schools are great on LI, and they are in the city too, you just need to pay the equivalent of a college tuition for them. Suburbs again soon enough.

 

Feeling pretty cheesy, drank my Arctic Panzer Wolf while watching The Grey with the boyfriend. Now onto Zombie Dust... and whatever is next on the movie queue.

I've lived in the city and grew up on Long Island, and I remember the rat problems, different as they were from each other, in both locations, and have a hard time even visiting either place now.
