Stone IRS 2012. First one ever and wow, the alcohol is really in your face. I think it needs some time to let that subside. Good stout regardless though.

went to the bar and had boulders mojo risin ipa..it sat at 10.5% and it seemed fairly obvious to me the high level of alcohol and lack of mouthfeel. Drank a couple st. pauli girls as well.

Fridays are still Retry nights of beers I havent had in a while(over a year)

Solid stuff. The aromas and flavors felt a bit off, and it was a touch too earthy and not enough fruit complexities. Almost no tartness. Enjoyable. Cracked it quickly expecting the worst, but it didnt even foam. Big hiss from the Brett drying it out though.

2009 La Roja. Absolutely Fantastic!!!!! Super balanced complexities, with just the right amount of vinegar acidity. Nice raspberry and cherry tartness, with great sweetness backing it up. Super fricking smooth. Great thing about living in MI is I can buy old vintages of any JP beer(if you know where to look). This was a slow gusher, hardly an issue.

Used my Kuhnhenn tulip tonight. I have been using it a lot lately.

Moonsorrow really was the band that got me into Folk Metal, being that I am a fricking Prog head. They really fit my style.

Had a La Trappe Quad tonight for the first time. Almost the whole bomber to myeslf.
I told my buddy that Rochefort 10's are probably my #1 favorite and he told me to pick up a La Trappe Quad - he said he had done a side by side comparison and the La Trappe was just as good, maybe even better.
It tasted much more like a Dubbel or a Belgian Strong Dark Ale than a Quad to me. I had a Rochefort 10 two weeks ago (neighborhood bar in downtown San Diego!) and it was phenominal as ever. This La Trappe Quad was nothing like it. Has anyone had this experience?

I just got home from the hospital. My wife and I had a baby girl this morning. I've been at the hospital since 4:30 a.m. So I am only having one tonight. That 1 is an Abacus I just opened. Cheers!!!
