Both use English yeast strains which are known to leave a more sweeter finish so not too surprising.

Wonderful beer. It's really become more balanced and smoothed out since it was bottled—brett's coming out more and the hops have mellowed. Went from very good to great, in my book.

It was a long weekend of drinking. Visited Chicago for a concert and decided to stop by FFF on my way back to Grand Rapids, MI. Had a Zombie Dust and Hell's Black Intelligencer. Sorry, no pic of the beer, but I did take an instagram pic of the taproom board.

Really wish I could have tried more, but we needed to hit the road.

We probably crossed paths as I was there for dinner tonight as well. Safe travels!

Decided on a bottle of HUB Noggin Floggin 2011 instead. Had it on tap at Hopworks early last year and loved it. While not quite on par with the traditional barleywine style, this is a solid brew. Almost like a complex, multi-layered Double IPA according to my palate. Lots of alcohol heat remaining at almost 6 months old (if I recall right), but very good, overall. Anxious to see how this one will age...

No idea why Goose Island retired this, it's fantastic.

Now, I'm onto Lagunitas Sucks. It's still awesome.

Thanks! Made it home in good time, and just before storms kicked in. Can't wait to visit again, wish it wasn't a 2 1/2 hour drive away!

HB Falls Bount Cyser next; 4 gallons fresh cider, 9# Orange blossom honey, 2# Brown sugar, 110 oz each figs and dried currants. Fermented with a dry mead yeast to 15% abv, 18 months aging is working wonders.
