Welcome! I have high hopes to drink Augustiner Bräu Märzen in Austria and Kloster Kreuzberg Dunkel in Germany one day.

Nice to meet ya! It is never too late to find new friends. A tour through the Old World has got to be a great adventure, and having a place here on BeerAdvocate can be a resource and an outlet to share your experiences.

Please stay in touch either here or via the many forums. Regional or others. And most importantly, safe journeys!

Ireland, France, and a fair bit of Belgium done already. Amsterdam, Geneva, and Monaco too.
Nothing really compared to Ireland’s nightlife. I’ll miss it every day till I go back.
Belgium is close enough that I hope to soon make a return trip for the breweries/abbeys that I missed. Germany remains a distant dream.
I never thought I’d say this, but Im getting curious about craft beer in the states. I wonder how/if I might be able to get my hands on Russian River or Hill Farmstead back home

Do you define 'distant' as in future time or geographical placement? I think I know the answer, but Munich is not that 'distant' from Brussels on those high-speed trains. Of course time and finances have to always be a factor too. Maybe you should hold off for now until you can do Germany, Austria and Czech Republic all in one trip.

Thanks for the summary of your trip. It sounds like you're having a great time. Keep us informed. If you have specific questions to help you get the best out of your trip, be sure to visit the specific country's forum to get help.

    An unlikely find…
    [IMG]
I popped in to Drinks of the World at the Geneva train station in hopes of finding something I couldn’t get at home, and was quick to spot the Stone IPA.

Up until now I don’t think I’ve ever tried an actual craft beer from the States (assuming this hasn’t also come out of a Sapporo brewery).

This was probably one of the best IPAs Ive ever had. I found it wonderfully bitter, well-balanced, it had a pillowy head that lasted throughout… the only thing I could maybe knock it for was feeling a little thin going down. Really great though, wish it were available here
