If you're going to be in the city, both those spots are must-hits.

But for bottles, go to Beer Temple. It's less than a mile from Revolutiom Taproom, and just over a mile from the brewpub.

It's hands down the best bottle shop in Chicago. Don't go to Binnys. Go to Beet Temple. I love Binnys for tye convience if I'm nearby, but there are 3 shops that are above everyone.

    Beer Temple
    Puerto Rican Food and Liquors
    Fischmans (soon to be RIP)

If you'll be in the city on Saturday,
And on the off chance PW cans are not in stock (unlikely) they are extremely easy to come by if you're in city limits. And they date their cans. You can go to most any dedicated bottle shop and find fresh PW cans.

FWIW I got a Good Fiend at The Open Bottle in Tinley Park and then stopped at Binny's Mokena on my way home just to ask what they got and picked up a BA Murderous.

haha, it was just coincidence, the stores could give a preference between the two if they had one and oddly certain areas just asked more for one than the other, nothing intentional about it from our side.

Oh how I wish the FwB could be expanded and by something relatively fair like a lottery

For the guy visiting wanting Pipeworks stuff, I'd also suggest West Lakeview Liquors. IMO the best shop in the city and they always have a massive selection of PW stuff.

For another opinion, I'd say go to Beer Temple, but you should definitely go to Lincoln Park Binny's. Those are the two stores I always tell people to go to.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I ended up going to Beer Temple because I was right there and left with my allotment of beers ($85). Great store, got some great help with fresh local beers.

I'll be back to this area and will check out the other bottle shop suggestions.

I've posted in our Great Lakes forum every time I visit Chicago and you locals are always great with providing advice - thanks for your consistent help with a fellow beer lover!! You've got a really nice local beer scene as well!

Yeah, nobody will pull an Ardea for that unless it's the 6th beer in a set.

Fairy Basslet sounds interesting. I'm assuming that's new, no?

So let's hear how Emerald stacks up to Square Grouper. Who has tried it?

Pipeworks was really successful using pineapple with Lizard King during the Emporium tap takeover. It makes sense for them to try it with a DIPA now

Not to mention that it's hard to F up a Citra DIPA (especially for PW).

I imagine it will stack up fairly evenly considering it's the same beer. Well with the possible exception of not having galaxy hops but this might be a PW mystery.

Damn this Emerald Grouper is delicious. I'd put it a tick below Spotted Puffer. My 2nd fav fish brew so far.

I've only had the chance to have Crimson Snapper so far in the fish series. How's it rank relative to that?
