Details? Did a sack of sweet potatoes fall on him?

 

I remember reading something to do with the coconut. I could be completely wrong. If there was a dedicated pipeworks thread I could go back and look for it.

 

If you haven't made your trip yet and after doing a little more diligence, looks like Fountainhead usually has some PW on tap along with a few other things you might enjoy.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I'm coming in on Tuesday 10/15. Plan on 3floyds then into the city for Hopleaf, Goose Clybourn, Publican, Binnys. I may have to find time to get to fountainhead as well.

Did the second batch of OTA make it to the Lombard/Downers Grove/Countryside places yet?

 

I picked a bottle of OTA in Villa Park...not to far from Lombard

 

As in, this week? Last two weeks PW has hit the DG on Friday afternoons.

Do they deliver with any consistency to Countryside? Main Street doesn't seem to get much PW. And the selection at Prestige is hit and miss -- saw some Aussie Summer Ninja there last Monday, but no Game of Jones or any sort of Truffle Abduction.

 

Just grabbed some OTA at the Binny's on Grand Ave.

 

I was out of town last week and saw that OTA Batch 2 was out at some places and I was wondering if I missed it at the Glen Ellyn/Downers Grove/Willowbrook Binnys, Standard Market, Prestige Countryside, etc.

While we're on the topic, did it hit the south burbs last week (Orland Park Binnys, Berkots etc.)?

 

Also, to answer your question, I have had good luck in the past with Prestige Countryside, although they never have a limit so the more desired stuff gets disappears quickly. It seems to me that Mainstreet rarely gets any of the sought after stuff.

 

Nisperos almost killed Gerrit, I escaped unscathed on that one

Batata Obscura (Dark sweet potatoe) is basically a porterish version of the original Nisperos. Same amount of sweet potatoes ~220lbs/7bbl batch with additionals of vanilla bean, cinnamon stick, nutmeg (I think), and toasted coconut. We amped up the coconut character this go around, just a bit and the result is an awesomly velvety porter thing-a-ma-jig. Really rich and creamy. Some may have ended up in the basement for some reason too, not sure why that would happen though...

Was beer browsing Binnys Schaumburg yesterday. They had an OTA hiding behind Game of Jones. Their beer guy Pat also mentioned they may have a few in the back. Happy hunting fellas! Also I really hope that brown ale name sticks - weirdo brown. Can't wait for that one PW!
