I hope they notice that the description on the upper left of the Blue Lady isn't correct!

Does the fact that there is a Unicorn's Revenge mean that the unicorn lost in the NvU standoff?

Of course, that's why we had Blood of the Unicorn

Why people automatically compare the beer to Hunawhata I have no idea... Our concept was not influenced by Cigar City because we weren't even aware of that beer (we knew of Huna but didn't know it was a chili stout with vanilla and cocoa, just heard of it through the hype). Ours was concepted after Cinnamon red hot like candies covered in chocolate Gerrit used to have as a child and we said 'oh lets try to make that'. Just so happens that combo kinda kicks ass and now there are like 15 other beers with a similar theme.

We have an imperial version of this beer coming... and then you can compare that to Huna all you want... but until then please don't compare our 8% milk stout to an 11% imperial stout! =)

Just saying people dog us and say 'this is a poor-man's or failed version of huna' We weren't trying to make Huna, so yea I guess we failed at replicating something we weren't aiming for.

blame MasterSki for that one! =) he wouldn't separate the ratings after the first batch!

you know.. it's very possible. BA seems to love the beer whereas RB is giving off some low rates...

not that we are obsessing over ratings but this is our quality control. Untappd is okay, but it's not quality reviews with quantitative data. A BA/RB rate must include a description and we can certainly see what's happening with variation over bottles. Never understood that as a rater, when we would rate something highly and see someone else drink/rate the same beer at the same time and rate the beer low and use totally different descriptors. Or vice-versa. But from a brewers perspective it's totally helpful. We think now that that really is due to bottle variation and it's really helping us track down exactly why. A loose cap seems to drastically alter the rating, you might not know you are rating a compromised bottle, but we can tell from your rating. It's really extremely helpful and I don't think most brewers use these serious rating websites as a QC tool. Instead they dismiss them because they got their fragile feelings hurt. We can honestly tell when someone has had a shit bottle or when someone is just rating low because they genuinely don't like the beer. And it'll help us put out a better product at the end of the day. Number one pet peeve is spending $6-12 on a bomber and feeling like you got ripped off. We don't want to be 'that guy'

You are most certainly not "that guy" >> your beer is perfect price point IMO. A little on the pricey side of affordable, but definitely not too expensive, and well worth every penny. Not everyone can charge "stone prices" :grinning:

Not me - that was emerge077's decision, as he was the Chicago BFG at the time.

As for Something Hoppy, Sorachi Ace can be pretty polarizing.

Picky grammar issue too. The Unicorn's Revenge is listed as a Double IPA Ale. So Double India Pale Ale Ale. Should drop the second Ale.

Ya, let's stop comparing it to hunahpu and start comparIng it to abraxas by perrenial Artisen. J/k

But joking and topic aside, Im hoping abraxas makes it to Chicago because I thought that was actually comparable and better then hunahpu.

Got a bottle of Abraxas coming to me this weekend (included in a trade where I'm sending a Something Hoppy, so it still pertains to this thread) Glad to hear it is that highly regarded. Definitely planning on doing a side-by-side with EOD. And maybe I'll open my Huna along with it...

This is very cool--probably my fault for not being better educated on this brew, but drinking it with that candy in mind made it much more enjoyable. Had I not known this I might have thought something was a little off.

Very well done, cool concept, and I will definitely look forward to other interesting/concept beers from pipeworks...

As Gerrit (I assume) mentioned above EoD is a milk stout vs the others being imperial stouts. So comparing them isnt quite right. I was just pointing out that I loved abraxas more hunahpu. My opinion though, I'm sure most will disagree.

Pipeworks and Perennial are my favorite breweries right now, both pumping out really great stuff. I also think a pumpkin beer from Pipeworks would be great, not for another month or so though.
