I also had Standard Issue and Blue Lady tonight. Standard Issue was solid: as advertized and then some.

Blue lady was a good first run of a fruited Berliner. I was somewhat skeptical when I heard it was just a sour mash with no added lacto culture, but the tartness was on point for the style and the blueberry flavor is huge (on point with fresh Blåbær as far as blueberry presence goes IMSDHO).

I'll echo what Tnudish said: there was some cheesy character in the nose that was not at all present in the flavor. Hopefully the gang will have this resolved for batch 2, but beyond that I was more than happy with the result and will probably buy another bottle for myself if they don't sell out soon.

I just posted my review of Blue Lady. I did detect the off smells, but they were not very strong. It didn't really hurt my enjoyment of the beer. I'm happy I have another bottle to enjoy later, quite tasty.

The beer can't taste like butter or cheese because I offered it to my cat and he wouldn't drink it and his sense of smell is orders of magnitude better than mine.

Split a bottle of Blue Lady between 3 of us--we were all sad when it was gone.

agreed. opened my first bottle last night. definitely a funky blue cheese nose, but it didn't detract from the beer. and it definitely got better as it warmed in the glass.

Had a bottle of the Blue Lady last night- my first thought was 'wow- what a good looking brew!'. Did not notice a buttery smell or taste, just a sweet, sour, enjoyable blueberry beer. It was not the greatest thing ever, but I am definitely looking forward to trying some of their other beers based on this one.

Slightly off the latest topic, as a suburbanite I haven't had a chance to try any of their beers yet, but I just picked up a couple on Friday: Ninja vs. Unicorn and Something Hoppy This Way Comes. Excited to try them out soon.

Had a Something Hoppy on Saturday for the first time. Absolutely delicious. Enjoy. Just a piney citrusey heaven.

Is Blue Lady still around anywhere? I was out of town this weekend and would like to give it a try. Send me a BM if anyone knows.

Standard is soo freakin good... Bleu Lady is a bit of a flop though. Just too much bleu cheese, just like a good dish you cant drown everythign else out with bleu cheese. its in the aroma and smell for me, slight butter.

I opened one of mine on Thursday, I don't recall the butter but I really didn't get the blueberry in the taste. I did not enjoy this beer when I opened it and I could only take the first 6 oz pour. I put a wine stopper in it after an hour or so. I found that the next day it was much more drinkable, the off flavor was diminished but I still get no blueberry hints. I have one bottle left, I'm going to get it cold and hope that I have a good experience with it.

Bleu lady grew on me a bit... now onto a jones dog... much better, better than I expected. And I just reached pipeworks 100% on the other site.

Will Pipeworks be making appearances on tap handles ever?

I am sure they will in the future, but for now they are just focusing on making their beers and run their business. As they grow and make some more capital then the bottle shop, kegs, etc will most likely come in.

Can't wait for the bottle shop, it's 4 blocks away, which means easy access. Always see them brewing and just want to see the front door open asking me to come in for a beer. Any updates Pipeworks?

we pull a 1/6th barrel of almost every batch off... we don't usually announce it so people don't head to the bar only to find that the tiny keg is already dry.

    Bars we are rotating through:

Gene's Sausage Shop on Lincoln Ave
    Map Room
    Green Eye
    The Local Option

    and hopefully soon:

    Fischman's
    Maria's
    Lula's
    Monkeys Paw
    Jerry's
    Bad Apple
    Quenchers
    Village Tap

FwB will pick up there bottles from the brewery as soon as we get our own liquor license, so growler fills too... no other update, except to say that financially we are moving in the right direction to making that happen. So that's a good thing.

Good for you guys, more good things to come. Should you need more financial backing, maybe a FwB Round 2? I am sure you would have no problem finding people who missed the first time.
