Lawson's SOS CT Lookout Thread

Heading to Mystic this weekend, any Sip sightings? Also trying to track down some G-Bot and Captains Daughter if anyone has recommendations for places to go.

 

Has anyone seen any SoS drops lately?

 

Last I saw near me in East Granby, CT was on Aug. 12th. Has been every two weeks or close to that last month or two though so maybe another coming this week?

 

I have yet to come across it on my trips across CT from Boston to NY. Locations near 84 have left me high and dry. I would love to find a place with it regularly considering I make the drive like every other weekend.

 

Nowhere has it "regularly" really, and if you're driving through on a Saturday or Sunday, you're probably SOL, because most places sell out the day they get it, and that's typically a week day.

You might be better off talking with someone in thread that can get it, and pick it up during your trip.

 

Searching for SOS without an "in"=SOL!

 

Just a heads up, I just picked up a 4 pack of SoS @ Caraluzzi's Market in Bethel today 8/25 around 12:20pm. Super fresh canning date (8/22), and there was about 4 to 5 4-packs left on the shelf, although it looked like they just stocked it, so maybe worth asking if any is left in the back. Some is hiding behind the Bud Light 6-packs. Cheers!

 

Weekends are even tougher. Seems to hit the stores Wednesday and Thursday. At that point your only luck is the stores that horde it in the back and dole out a cab or two for an absurd price. I would rather just pick up cone flakes cans from firefly than deal with that bs.

 

Just picked up a four pack from harvest in west hartford. I forgot how good this stuff is. Its easily the best beer that I can pick up in cans from the store. Been going the brewery route recently, mostly tree house and SoS was a pleasant surprise. Didn't want to like it this much. Its good shit.

Edit: Batch looks filtered though. I don't see any haze at all. Taste is on point at least.

 

It has always looked fairly clear since being distributed in CT. Definitely has never looked hazy like a Treehouse beer.

 

Except the first 2-3 batches in cans in late 2014, it was pretty hazy, but that didn't last long.

 

Fresh sip dropped today in Hartford county.

 

I'm heading down to Foxwoods today (9/7) from NH. Any stores in the area the might be getting sip? Will be coming down 395 from Worcester.

 

I believe the SOS drop was last week unfortunately. You could probably find something like Captain's Daughter or Sea Hag.

 

Was a bit off what seems like an almost normal 2 week schedule but saw some SoS arrive yesterday here in East Granby. Not sure if other places got some too.

 

Harvest in West Harvest had about four cases yesterday.

 

Just got some at Town and Country Wine and Liquor in South Windham

 

Not the right thread for it but I've been very tempted to go to grey sail for a case of CD. When its good its a solid beer. On the other hand their qc is pretty poor. I'm scared to get a case of a bad batch. I haven't had CD for quite a while and really enjoy the brew. I've had a couple of bad four packs and picked up a sixer of pour judgement last week that was just off. I like grey sail but their consistency is about as bad as it gets. which is surprising for a company thats been putting out certain brews for so long.

 

And how is this related to SOS? Totally agree about CD. Never had a bum batch of PJ.

 

Picked some up at Harry's in Fairfield about 30 minutes ago. Also had G-bot.
