I was working in southington when double dose hit hartford county, stopped at a few stores and it was all sold out. SW&S was one of the only stores that actually had some in stock, so after about 45 minutes of searching i was pretty psyched when i saw the cashier pull it up on the computer. She called the beer guy over, and he told me he couldn't sell me any because he had to save it for regular customers, even though he told me the just got a case in. I wasn't very happy about that, ill probably never go back there.

Gotta love this considering they got 10 cases on Monday/Tuesday... If they don't want the hassle, don't order it.

Sounds like every experience at SW&S. Brought my regular shopping elsewhere a long time ago. Won't be back.

These stories are disturbing but not surprising at all. Literally the worst part about the CT beer scene right now is the unreasonable tyrants that run/work at the liquor stores around here.

While I feel that customer service should be given at 100% when at all people, it does wear a person down hearing the SAME QUESTIONS all the time.

Everyone wants the hard to find brew, at a cheap price, with no hassle. When you're asked 50 times a day if you have it in and then exasperated sighs when you don't it can dampen your spirits.

My girlfriend works at Two Roads and she gets calls constantly if they are selling SOS in their tasting room.

I get that. I'm sure it is a major pain in the ass. But these people are working. With customers, mind you. I'm pretty sure almost all of us have parts of our job that are a pain in the ass, but most of us can't just treat other people like crap when we get sick of something at work.

There are FAR worse things than people wanting to buy a product from you. When the calls stop completely, that's when the liquor stores will start having real problems.

There's a really simple solution - not only for SW&S, but any store in CT that is annoyed.

Put it out in the fridge, with a little sign, "one 4-pack per person." Problem solved. And I get stores want to keep some aside for their regulars, but in the case where a store (SW&S, for example) gets 10-12 cases, they most certainly do not have 72 regulars that they're putting aside 4-packs for.

Don't want to be annoyed and/or lie to customers and potential customers? Put the beer out for sale, or don't - and get countless phone calls and questions, but don't sigh when customers ask for some "back room" beer. It's YOUR store's policy of not putting the beer in the fridge that brings forth the questions, after all.

Is Connecticut the only state where the majority of stores act like this with "special" (side note - does SOS even qualify as that, anymore?) releases.

They don't do it with any beer in any store that I have ever been in in NY.

I really enjoy this beer, but I've had it enough now that I'm done chasing/overpaying for it. When the price point becomes reasonable and I can find a 4 pack on a shelf without the games, I'll consider buying it again.

There are definitely some places that just put it in the case, but not very many in aouthern FF county. The ones I have seen are really small stores too.

I bought some yesterday at my local spot. I think they are fair. One 4 pack per person, per day. It isn't hidden at all. Just walk to the beer section, look for it among the other cases, grab it, and pay the suggested retail price.

In my opinion the 1 pack per person allows more people to enjoy the beer instead of one greedy person buying them all up. I buy beer to drink it, not trade it.

Right, I meant stores that have a problem should put it in the case. I've seen it in the fridge at certain stores in Simsbury, New Britain and East Hartford, even though these stores will still put some aside for their regulars. Everyone wins this way.

What's the best bet for SoS on draft in Fairfield for lunch in Friday?

CT is definitely not the only state, I've run into this kind of stuff in VT, RI, MA, NJ & NY.

I will say, I've *never* had a problem with this. If you're polite, talk to the owner/beer person & pickup something other than the whale you're seeking out, you shouldn't have much of a problem, unless you run into an exceptional d#$%.

I've watched countless people walk into a store and go straight to the counter and ask for *insert whale* without even looking at anything else on sale and getting pissed of when told it's either sold out or all reserved/spoken for.

TL; DR: Don't be a jerk and support your local spots, unless they're jerks.

I am hoping you went on Friday? Not only did they have Sip on tap, they also had Captains Daughter, Another One and Supernaut. It was a great day to be there. Cheers!

hey everyone. trying to get in the game hunting of SoS. I know it'll take a bit of luck and trial and error, but are there any stores worth checking along 95 (or a few miles off)? I travel from RI to NJ pretty regularly and am looking for a spot or two to stop in regularly and hope? (Would also love GB, but hearing that's even harder). Any ideas?

Anyone know of anywhere in the Foxwoods or Mohegan area that has it? I am heading down there in a couple weeks and wanted to get my hands on some.
